... do we still have to stick to them? See that the shops are full of black polo necks and would love one but am 34G. Would it be so awful? if I bought a nice thin one?

It's not about making your b

...oobs look bigger, it's about making you look like a big blob with no definition anywhere. I'm blobby enough without assistance from revolting tops!

Ooo, thanks Ruby, looks like I'm unintentionally fashionable!

As you were.

bonkers20 · 22/09/2011 09:06

Yay yay and yay again! I am tall and slim with small norks and scrawny elegantly slim neck. Polos suit me. I have been wearing standard M&S skinny rib polos for years.

I am of huge nork and I hate these things due to what they make my boobs look like but also hate it because it makes my neck and chin and hair look fab!

moonmother · 22/09/2011 09:23

I'm a DD and I wear them- only very fine knit ones tho. The secret is to wear long necklaces (knotted necklaces are good) or scarves , as another poster mentioned or wear a very fine knit v neck over the top ie sweater/ cardi or tank top. That way you creating the illusion of a v neck but able to wear the polo neck too.

Must say my norkage is 'hoicked' to the hilt too, in them Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/09/2011 09:40

Actually, greggs has reminded me of wanting to take the scissors to the last polo neck I wore in 1987. You're right, it's panic-attack central, like I'm being strangled.

ThePetiteMummy · 22/09/2011 09:55

Yes, they do make me claustrophobic come to think of it, especially if wool.

Helltotheno · 22/09/2011 10:30

HeavyHeidi the polo doesn't look great on the girl in the pic but I don't think that's down to her norks is it? Seems to me it's to do with the way the skirt is sitting on her tum? Would've looked better if she was all black imo...

HeavyHeidi · 22/09/2011 11:09

Yes the skirt makes her look frumpy too, but even if she was in all black, the poloneck makes it seem like there are a few metres between her boobs and chin and therefore looks like the boobs are way lower than they really are - that's the non-flattering part.

sue52 · 22/09/2011 11:55

Not sure about polo necks, they make all but the long of neck look a bit frumpy.

pommedechocolat · 22/09/2011 11:59

I look appalling in most V necks as have big boobs and big shoulders. I look the size of a bus. polo necks are much more flattering.

I fecking hate 'fashion rules' like Tand S and Gok. Style does not need 'rules' fgs.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 22/09/2011 13:41

Since Gok's 'rules' seem to consist of putting everyone in a garish 1950s-style dress with thick plastic belt, and as much polyester as you can buy by the yard, I'm quite happy disregarding them as well!

Girl in the pic looks lumpy because her bra isn't supporting her properly, plus she is cutting the whole thing in half and reducing the length of her top half by tucking the polo in to a high-waisted, light-coloured skirt - plus said skirt seems to have some sort of pleated/tulip effect around the waist.
A low-waisted, slim-fitting skirt in a dark colour is needed - and no tucking in!

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 23/09/2011 07:55

Another 32F voting NO... unless your norkage is particularly high-set (in which case, v jealous) it makes boobs look like they're in a different county to yr face and neck.

MadamA · 23/09/2011 14:09

Ooh what a debate - halfway down the thred I was thinking "hey ho they're not for me, I am short and have a short neck, just accept it and move on" and then i read animula's post and thought HURRAH it IS OK!

yes petitemummy (i hate you already) - they're back in - all over the shops - saw at least 23 different versions in Gap and Zara alone this week.

Oh no - had only read page 1 - not that have seen that pic of Christina Hendricks my mind is made up - no effing way am i wearing one of those - heavyheidi nailed it when she said it makes her boobs look miles from her head. Thats EXACTLY the problem.

Thanks all!

Helltotheno · 23/09/2011 15:55

Hang on, was that Christina Hendricks in the black polo and cream skirt?
I'm really so over her and her norks. Hate the way she dresses and wouldn't base any decision on what she wears (note to Christina: you have other body parts besides norks!!) She could've worked the polo better if she'd worn something else with it and a better bra...

ThePetiteMummy · 23/09/2011 16:00

Thanks MadamA, found them at the back of a shelf in my wardrobe whilst having a clear out the other day, result! Smile
