Despite my initial Shock at paying £15 for a fairy's soupbowl of eyeshadow, I can tell it's going to last forever and it really does stay on ALL DAY! Halleluia! What else is good please and i will start saving now!!

kplondon I've had a couple of my liners for 2+ years and they're OK. Hmmm, maybe a drop of jojoba oil mixed through would help bind them again? Are they defo genuine articles (not ebay I mean?) That is odd.

ViolaTricolor · 16/09/2011 14:09

I bought a cream shadow in stone, a powder shadown in champagne quartz and a no-smudge mascara, and am going back for the rest in stages! I had the one hour bridal makeover, but there was nothing specifically bridey about it. The make up artist used the mineral make up on me, and I must say it looked really fab. The coverage is quite sheer but the finish was lovely. I haven't used other mineral make up though, so can't compare. She put a foundation stick underneath on my red bits, to boost the cover. The eye corrector and concealer felt unfamiliar, but I can see that it really works. And I also really liked the vitamin face base thing, which worked really nicely as a primer for the mineral make up.

One was ebay, now that I think about it - and I probably leave the lid off for longer than I need. Off to buy some! Thanks!

ViolaTricolor · 16/09/2011 14:43

I saw another thread here suggesting that people get the eyeliner brush from ebay, but I really worry about fraudulent sellers.

HazeltheMcWitch · 16/09/2011 16:17

ooh, Viola, that all sounds fab! I love love love the corrector and the concealer. Well, I love it all, but those 2 would be on my top 3 list! I have champagne quartz: it's a really good all-rounder, can be used on its own, or blends well with other shades for different looks.

And now I feel I need some more makeup...

Make sure if you go to HOF counter - get registered! Then you get wee invites every couple of months for free make overs and free girfts when new stuff comes out.

LaLaLaLayla · 16/09/2011 18:27

All you gel eyeliner fans, please, please, tell me how to apply it. I make such a mess of it.

TrillianAstra · 16/09/2011 18:38

Difficult to describe in text, there are a few that might help.

You just sort of put it on. With a brush.

I've been looking for a new foundation, and am trying to decide between MAC and BB, as the shades seem right. There is an unbelievable difference on the finish on the BB to the Revlon Colorstay I was using, but I can't decide whether it runs slightly yellow...

HazeltheMcWitch · 17/09/2011 15:11

mippy - the BB shades are all yellow-based, (as opposed to pink-based) which Bobbi feels is truer to skins' own tones. I of course agree with Saint Bobbi.

But... it is a big purchase, so assuming you can get into a store, go to the counter and say you're looking for a new foundation, can they recommend and apply, and you will wear for a few hours and then decide. They will be ok with this. Do this both with MAC and BB. And make sure that you look at your skin in a couple of different lights - one of which must def include natural daylight! Then come back here and tell us what you got.

ViolaTricolor · 19/09/2011 13:18

Do any of you use the cream shadow brush, or have an alternative (maybe cheaper!) brush which works with that?

CardiCorgi · 19/09/2011 13:30

I am far from being a beauty expert but I have tried applying my one Bobbi Brown cream shadow either with a clean finger or with the stiffer eye brush from this set. Actually I was quite impressed with the ecotools brushes for the price.

Pinot · 19/09/2011 13:33

I use my ring finger for a sheer wash of colour (the heat makes it blend really well) or a lip brush to apply it to the lash line for deeper cover. I use a lip brush alot for eyeshadows actually.

trilottie · 19/09/2011 13:36

Viola - Body Shop brushes are reputedly just as good and cheaper than BB brushes. I have the cream eyeshadow one and its fine.

ViolaTricolor · 19/09/2011 16:18

Oh good, thanks Corgi, Pinot and trilottie. I have also used my finger with some success, but am doing my own face for my wedding and thought a bit more precision might be in order. Will check out ecotools and Body Shop, I remember having some good ones from there circa 1994 or so....
