As requested by thefish, here we go! I went last week with a friend (booked about 6-8 weeks in advance I might add), and it was FAB.... despite me feeling rather nervous as I was unable to answer questions like "who is your style icon?".... . Was given my own stylist (v sweet, about 18 years old, matchstick thin, had no concept of how I might be feeling as chunky frumpy mum with assorted food stains on most of my clothes), who was brilliant. Chose the option of NOT going round the shopfloor with her (felt tired just looking at the crowds of 16 year olds and scary 80's retro gear out there), and relaxed until she re-appeared with a giant rack of clothes that I would never have tried on myself, but some of which actually WORKED....
All in all, was a marvellous afternoon !

orangina are you serious about being big in the middle and still finding good stuff in topshop (read that on the other thread)?

i am size 10 in legs, size 10/12 in shoulders and size billion in tits and muffin top!!!!

so NOTHING fits!

would like to do the topshop personal stylist thing but only if it doesn't end up making me v depressed...

Mum2Ela · 12/12/2005 14:15

How much did you spend?

orangina · 12/12/2005 14:19

sophable, i used to have a waist, but i can't really find it any more.... . i am definitely a bit muffiny around the middle (will do something about it after christmas...!), but could hardly call myself busty (only relatively speaking, but i came from a fairly flat chested starting point....)

I LOVE personal shoppers! It's such a nice way to shop - very regal, staying in one place and having flunkeys bring clothes to show you!!

orangina · 12/12/2005 14:21

i bought 2 vest tops (long), 2 t shirts, 1 jeans, 1 trousers, 1 belt, 1 jersey top, 1 sweater, 1 cardigan, 1 silk skirt.... umm, i think that's it. no change from £250. skirt was the most expensive thing i bought, £50...

Hmmmm - well thanks for the tips everyone. Will see if I am brave enough to venture in after the holidays. In order to make the most of it however, I think I need a fat wallet and a thin arse....but unfortunately for me, I've got a thin wallet and a fat arse....

Hi welshmum - hope you're doing fine, and happy holidays to you and yours.

motherpeculiar · 15/12/2005 09:07

hey orangina I remember you saying you were going to do this - sounds great. I'm definately going to book after Xmas. Out of interest - who did you say was your style icon in the end?

I found out about the personal shopper when once pounced on me on my first post natal shopping trip (I must have look desparate ). She whisked me, my mum & dd to the extra big comfy changing room and went & found me what I wanted - combats, tops I could breasfeed in (wraps etc). So when I wanted new work clothes, I just called in the morning, booked an appointment and rolled up later. Got lovely short tweed trousers. Pencil skirt, shirt and a couple of jumpers. We had the whole personnal shopping room to ourselves (me & dd), it was great! In and out in an hour and now when I go back to work I won't feel like an old frump. This was Nottingham, so no long wait for an appointment.
