Decent (and non sweaty) makes of thermals

Having moved from the south west to the grim north I am now, admittedly a bit prematurely, bracing myself for winter.
I have worn thermals a bit and have found some better than others. (Some can be a bit sweaty iyswim). I don't have a large budget, but am willing to spend a little bit more if I can for something that will last forever but would prefer cheaper if poss.
Any recommendations....?

On really cold days I wear Icebreaker long sleeve tees. They are 100% merino wool and wash & wear really well. They are expensive as they are proper tech gear (I wear them when I ski) but they are worth the money. You can sometimes find them in TK Maxx at a fraction of the price.

uniqlo heattech. marvellous and cheap.

I have a couple of long sleeved Mountain Warehouse thermals - they are a high scoop neck though so not suitable to wear under lots of things.
Marks and Spencer do a good range of vests, camisoles etc which I had a couple of last year - I am planning to get some new ones as I'm considerably smaller this year!

Tulpe - where do you get your icebreakers from?

I found some silk thermals on ebay and they are great. They were imported from America and were about £30 a set.

I got silk mix thermals from marks and spencer they are fab.

I've invested in some silk long johns to go under trousers. They have been excellent under work trousers, jeans and ski trousers. My work colleagues recommend the Uniqlo thermals - I tried to order some in the bad weather last year, but they were out of stock, so order early!

I second uniqlo heattech. Marvellous.

I second M&S silk mix thermals. They are awesome and nice and fine to wear under other things ( I wear them to work under dresses and nice blouses).

Icebreaker ones are nice for a more casual look.

I had had a look at the Heatech one's but wondered if they might fall under the 'sweaty' category, but it appears not! I will also keep an eye out for Icebreaker too, and if not, I'll go to M&S.

M&S don't have the silk termals online at the moment, how much are they?

I heard this morning that autumn started in July this year (Scotland), and we are in for another big freeze - I feel the cold due to poor circulation, so really want some decent thermals, I have a good merino t-shirt which I think I bought in t.k maxx.

I found the same re the M&S silk mix one's. Hopefully they will have them soon

I've bought Icebreaker from here and also from outdoors shops, Cotswold stocks it.
