Pumpkin Patch is opening where I live shortly - I think MN's (Cod???) have recommend it before. Can I have your thoughts please as I am fed up trying to seek out nice clothes for boys.

I haven't shopped there yet but my mum bought my DS (9months) some gorgeous red cords and a cute stripey top (one of those mock T-shirt over long sleeves looking affairs) and they are really nice and seem good quality.

Ooh thanks, sounds interesting then - can you tell I am excited?

Erm, currently better for girls than boys IMO (beyond toddlerhood that is), but previously the reverse has been true
Their stuff is certainly well-made, well-priced and a bit different.
The current range is just gorgeous for girls of all ages up to at least five, and there were some very nice things for baby and toddler boys too. Didn't see much for school-age boys that I liked though
Accessories are also very nice.

MARINAtivityPlay · 09/12/2005 13:27

I would be too Fimbo. I think their stuff is in general far nicer than a lot of the other high street chains.

serenitysaysHoHoHo · 09/12/2005 13:29

Oh it's terrible, where are all the subteenage clothes with the skulls and dope symbology, and bad attitude?

Seriously, it's pretty good. Quality is good, and the prices are reasonable. Our local store is a bit small though, so I find it's a little limited but good for basics. They have an older girl section which I can't remember the name of, but it would be nice if they could repeat it for the boys.

Yippee. It's his second birthday today - and he has received lots of money, so I will save it until the shop opens. Thanks Marina

UrbanAngels, serenity?
It was a bit of a drabfest for 5 plus boys in our branch last week...

MARINAtivityPlay · 09/12/2005 13:30

Happy birthday BabyPom

FIMBObellsFimbleAllTheWay · 09/12/2005 13:31

Baby Pom says thank you

That's the one Marina...

I have to say I haven't bought any boys stuff in there since last year, and then I actually went in there to get nice plain non-logoed up to the eyeballs long sleeved T's and jogging bottoms for DS1 (nice colours, still look good a year later). I get really irritated with the amount of extra loops, pockets and various hanging doodads some places feel they have to add onto clothes (kids and adults!) these days.

HandbagAddiction · 09/12/2005 14:18

Love Pumpkin Patch stuff - good quality, a bit different to all the other hig street stuff, more pricey but I think you get the quality instead so all the trousers for example have adjustable waistbands.

They do a good mail order service too from a great catalogue.

vickiyumyum · 09/12/2005 14:20

agree with everyone else, the clothes for boys up to age 4 are great, nice young clothing with diggers, dogs, animals etc on, past that age gets all too skaterboy for my liking.

i used to spend a fotune everytime i went to the one in the next town and then one openedin my town and since then it hasn't been as nice (probably coz hes just outgrown age 3-4 and has to go up to the big boys sizes)

they have a website so you can check them out before you go.

FIMBObellsFimbleAllTheWay · 09/12/2005 14:27

Diggers - my ds's favourite things in all the world (and one of the first words he ever said!) - I am off to check out the website! Thanks

Sorry will have to disagree with everyone here. I agree that the quality is pretty good but style wise - no, I don't like it much. - maybe the stuff I get sent from down under is different to what's available here?

However, if you do like PP I have a few bits available.

colditz · 10/12/2005 21:19

I like H&m for small boys, the colour vary but you can usually find something nice

nooka · 10/12/2005 22:24

I'm a Pumpkin Patch fan too, it's always on my round for kids shopping. The older boy's stuff is a bit skater/surfer which I am not keen on, but they usually have colours that look nice on ds. Definately nice summer clothes. The only thing I would say is that the last lot of trousers I bought ds have caused us problems, because despite the adjustable waist bands they are falling off him! So we had to restock at Next. But he is tall and very skinny.

Mercy · 10/12/2005 22:45

What I've got (not worn) is girls clothing. What I've been given for my ds is fine.

Seriously if anyone wants a couple of items of PP clothes.Should I put this under 'for sale' ?

TheFish · 11/12/2005 00:10

all boys very tall nda skinny

swedishmum · 11/12/2005 00:54

I'm not impressed by the quality of baby clothes but have got some cool non lasting stuff for my kids there. It's cheap and cheerful.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 11/12/2005 09:07

Pumpkin patch used to be great, and has now just gone khaki and skaterboy like everywhere else. I buy second hand pumpkin patch from the days when it was bright colours and would last for 5 kids.
