Not had any big bargains- i have not found a Dior dress for fifty pence or anything like that. I did get a Cath Kidson pouch for one pound. I have had some good bags that I love. Share your bargains...

velvet jacket for £5 in my teens! I found £10 in the pockets.

50p toy trolley for DD

I love buying old albums (records) for people as comedy presents - hammond organ dance party anyone?

MissKittyEliza · 30/08/2011 21:01

Yes Cat....I agree. It's a lovely feeling knowing that you've spent £20 and got 5 or 6 items instead of a t shirt from White Stuff!

MissRead · 30/08/2011 21:25

I got a lovely jacket the other day - not sure of the label but brand new, grey, military style (but not too much so), really flattering style - £8 - what a bargain! I was very pleased as you can imagine.

mippy · 30/08/2011 22:34

My part of London isn't great, but in my local shop I found a Cath Kidston make-up brush roll for £2 - the brushes weren't in it, but that was great because I wanted it for keeping my ergonomic crochet hooks

Once found an Alexander McQueen jacket for £4.50 in a charity shop - it served me for about five years of interviews.

SpanglyGiraffe · 30/08/2011 22:39

I found some Timberland shorts for my DS, for 75p a few weeks ago! I seriously doubt i'll find anything else decent though, the shops here are dire!

budgieshell · 30/08/2011 22:48

What is it about second hand clothes they always seem to fit.

Had a gift voucher for debenhams recently, I thought this was great, new clothes for a change, could I find any thing that fit, could I buggery.

The main problem with clothes shopping in charity shops is when you do go to full price shops it does come as quite a shock how much things cost.

I do tend to walk around looking at the prices saying "how much ?"

I can get to the charity shops in Highgate,Hampstead and Muswell Hill

Oooh, crazynanna, that's an unfair advantage Envy

budgieshell · 30/08/2011 23:48

Problem with charity shops is you don't always know what your buying. I have worn a pj top as a T-shirt and a chain belt as a necklace. I'm sure some people think how individual and others think look at that nutter.

Mspontipine · 31/08/2011 00:03

My beautiful Ravel leopard print ankle boots for a fiver. I loved those boots Grin Now they let in water soles coming off (have been glued) and are so sticky with ancient booze I've had them 11 years I still can't bear to part with them

Mspontipine · 31/08/2011 00:05

Also gorgeous Wallis leopard print jacket, leopard print bags, leopard print duvet....

Masses of fake furry coats. I've just outed myself if anyone who knows me reads this Grin

stripeybump · 31/08/2011 00:11

I took a load of my pre-pregnancy clothes to my local one and came back with the following:

Reiss cream silk dress - £6
All Saints draped dress - £5
Fat Face long stripey t-shirt - £4

I'm not sharing my location as it's always fab but no-one would expect it to be so I'm not advertising and sharing the spoils!

if i did the links right it would be funny .....honest.

garlicnutter · 31/08/2011 00:19

That really was very good!

The things some people will do when their leopard-skin boots flake out, eh.

worldgonecrazy · 31/08/2011 08:14

Louis Vuitton jacket - £20. Didn't have labels but buttons and quality were enough of a provenance.
Armani bag (genuine) - £5. It was on sale for £2 but I gave them the extra
Armani Collezioni silk blouse still with tags on - £15
Hobbs, Max Mara, Karen Millen, Monsoon, and other high end high street stuff for various sums under a fiver.

I have seen a lot of fake bags including a very scuzzy fake Hermes Birkin. They were quite disappointed it was a fake, especially when I told them how much a genuine one would be worth. At the local Barnardos they had a "genuine" YSL bag on sale for £99. It was quite obviously a fake but "a lady who knows about these things" had told them it was real. I gave my opinion and left them to it.

warmandwooly · 31/08/2011 08:43

OK as the starter of the thread I demand to know where these charity shops with the good stuff are.. [Wink]..no really I am so jealous that people can find some really good stuff.

worldgonecrazy · 31/08/2011 09:17

warmandwooly I wish I found these finds everytime I went shopping but the truth is that it takes about 20 visits and a lot of mooching to find one absolute bargain.

I once found a brand new, but seconds Whistles dress for £1.99, it had a tiny hole where the seam had come apart but was very easily fixable- bargain!

pinktortoise · 01/09/2011 09:47

A black leather skirt
A jigsaw reptile print blouse
