Do you wear clothes with writing on?

I was looking at a half-decent jumper from Next. Quite nice apart from the pink "Love" written across the chest Hmm

I avoid clothes with writing on as I think it's pretty naff (Next seem to excel at it). My DH has a Superdry jacket which has 'Superdry' written on it but insists 'it's different if it's a brand'. What do you think? Is writing OK and can it be stylish?

ha, i've had the same issue... i think writing's fine if you're a child or teenager (and i DID live in FCUK t shirts in my early 20s) but in general i'd agree with your DH that brands are ok, but random words look a bit odd

No, have a massive aversion to clothes with writing on. I feel it's like walking round idiotically yelling the same word/s all day.
I don't like wearing brandnames either; I'm not a billboard, thank you.

No I hate it. Whilst pg a friend passed on some maternity clothes (very kindly and much appreciated) and some of the Ts had 'hands off the bump' etc on them. These were only worn at home.
I bought some Rocket Dog boots yesterday, which I really like, but there's a tiny embroidered symbol on them and I'm not entirely comfortable with it. here

Superdry (for eg) shirts with tiny logo - yes.
Tops with slogans written across the front - no.

I rather like the subtle tags on clothes such as Howies but wouldn't wear anything with "Cotton Traders" anywhere visible. (yes, I suppose I am a snob)

In my 2nd year of uni pretty much all my tops where tight t-shirts with some kind of political/environmental slogan on them!

I feel a bit silly wearing them now unless I'm something super casual like exercising or going for a walk

I am 21 and still I would not dare unless it was a brand. And was not too big.

When I was pregnant with DS1 I had a tshirt that said "it started with a kiss..." it seemed cute & humourous at first but by 81/2 months and with a huge bump I felt like a waddling health warning! It really wasn't a good look.
These days I avoid clothing with slogans or large areas of branding

I hate clothing with words or pictures on. Can't stand anything like that.

I'm definitely too old now anyway but was never keen.

i've got some tshirts and sweatshirts from events or clubs or teams.. or festivals, but i only wear them for very very casual wear (when camping or going to/from sport events etc)

i have north face jackets and similar with smallish but quite obvious logos which i feel are so ubiquitous they're almost invisible, but i wouldn't wear ones with the brand in big letters all across the front or back.

and i wouldn't wear a random word like 'love' on a sweatshirt.

I avoid anything with writing. DH is banned from wearing his beloved Superdry t-shirts on any occasions where there will be photos. Latest example being to the birth of our DC2 - even contractions didn't prevent me from telling him to go and change!

nope. I have waterproof jackets and things with teeny tiny logos on. And horse polo shirts with stuff like "Real Girls Ride" on the back. But I try to wear those just to the stables...!

I think brand writing is irredeemably naff - it's there for no other reason than to show others what you paid/what magazines you read.

I used to wear writing tees until I was about 26 and suddenly felt like I'd outgrown them. I have a couple of band T-shirts and that's probably about it. Mind you, I'm a big fan of intarsia so make of that what you will...:)

No likey. Did anyone see that amusing Armstrong & Miller sketch where one of them found themselves conscripted into "South Beach Harbour Patrol" after idly buying some nasty nautical logo casualwear, by bristling sgt major type.

I secretly wish that kind of surreal retribution on logo t-shirt likers, i.e. "St Tropez Style" sentenced to several months cleaning campsite toilets in South of France. Mwah-hah-hah!

I generally will not wear clothes with writing on and I don't buy it for my children. I don't mind a very small brand name being written on somewhere, but it shouldn't be the focus of the clothing.

I don't mind tshirt from events - eg London Marathon or places - eg some sort of attraction tshirt on a child.

The only 'worded' clothing I wear are work shirts that have the company logo on them.

As a previous poster said I'm not a billboard, but am happy to be paid to wear a company shirt.
