I'm 5ft 5" a size 14/16, have mid length light brown hair ( i quite like my hair btw) I'm not dog ugly so i've been told, 49 years old and desperate.

Please link me anything, I don't suit red and do tend to go for more pastel shades

I know, it's a shame; they do a red one now, but red's a no-no for you isn't it?

I think that allsaints one is pretty damn close

Well i did go and try the red dress from phase eight on, took my daughter with me for moral support. It was nice but not quite right.

However my DD was running around doing her best Gok Wan impression searching for loads of different dresses, shapes and styles.

We have decided that patterns do not work, deeper colours ie reds/purples are a no no, v neck and sweetheart necklines do are good and jackets make me look about a hundred!!

So did find a grey tiered dress in John Lewis that fitted lovely, right colour for my skin tone and nice neck line. I didn't get it but as its new stock will maybe order online soon if i do decide to buy.

Now because jackets make me look so 'boxy and square', i was thinking of maybe a luxurious pashmina type thingy??!

What do you think?

I will try to link dress

I like the JL dress. Think you should try the all saints one too though!

Re jackets, I know what you mean about the boxy and square thing. What about a smart coat, same sort of length as the dress?
