How did you find your hairdresser?

I'm VERY fussy about hairdressers.

I've had a fantastic guy for the last few years - he always listened carefully to what I said, nodded sagely then did something completely different which would actually suit me. I found him completely by luck, when I got desperate and booked in at the last minute.

But now he's moved to Devon and I need to find someone else :(

I'm hoping to cut out the 20 years it took me to find him this time, but don't know where to start... how did you find your hairdresser? Already had one cut which I'm not much impressed with and I'm on a mission.

Friend of a friend. Gave it a go to test her out and don't want to go anywhere else now.

I go to a big expensive salon where there is always someone else to try out if the current person leaves!

A woman where I used to work had great hair . I asked her where she got it done and have stuck with the same place ever since, ten years now.

Yes, my general approach is similar to yours, Bonsoir. Though have had some disappointing cuts in big expensive salons too!

Regular holidays in Devon? My hairdresser says some of her customers who've moved away will come up to London just to have her cut their hair.

Mine was recommended - I was told she takes a lot of care and checks the cut over and over to make sure it's even - and she does. She also listens to what I want.

I'm 49 and she's older than me, so I'm starting to panic that she might retire soon.

hmm me too - I tend to stick to the expensive places but he's the first stylist who seems to be able to read my mind and ignore my rubbish attempts to explain what I want. Maybe I do need to holiday in Devon!!

I'm going to have to start checking out other people's hair more closely.

Was thinking along similar lines, my hairdresser has been doing my hair for 15 years but is currently recoving from a c section, so it will be a couple of months at least before she's back in action, i have short hair that needs cutting every 4 weeks any recommendations in the knowsley/liverpool area.

I asked on here this week for recommendations...have been with current hairdresser for an bout 7 years and am bored.

The hairdressers had a fairly good reputation anyway. I was having a coffee opposite it and I saw a poster welcoming their newest senior stylist and he had a 50% introduction offer. I liked his name so gave him a go. I think I love him a little bit.

Having said that I was unfaithful last week on his day off, I was so fed up with my hair so I went to an expensive salon near me. It was the hairdressers first week and she needed clients. Foolishly I thought she would be cheaper as she as new. It was £58 and she put so many layers into it, I hardly have any volume left That will teach me and now I have to go and explain that one to my boy.

Our relationship was based on entirely on trust and making me feel good about myself - what's not to love?! Also, he was nice and gay with a VW fetish so didn't even have to feel guilty about it :)
