What do you associate with this style? TIA

Kittens- www.my-counselling-site.com/passive-aggressive should give you a clearer insight into passive/aggressive behaviours and subsequent codependency.
I am perfectly aware of the term and it's meaning.
Panda- you have failed to understand. Calling somebody a 'rude cow' is rude. You need to take a look at why you have felt the need to contribute in such a negative, and frankly, immature manner.

Ah. It's not over. In that case, my post still stands.

Ginsberg will be turning in his grave.

Pandalaw · 25/08/2011 16:06

Catswipe? Arsewipe more like. How's that for immature?

LeBJOF · 25/08/2011 16:08

Catswipe- the consensus is that you are being unnecessarily snarky and unpleasant. So unless you have some sockies show up, you aren't going to come out of this well. Give it a rest, will you?

catswipe · 25/08/2011 16:08

Says more about you.Wink

Your link doesn't work, but regardless of that your supposition of my passive aggressive intentions was wrong so that's really all that matters. I'm not going to get into a splitting hairs discussion about psychology.

Calling someone rude, for being rude is not rude.

I can see why you call yourself cat swipe. You seem a little viscous.

May I recommend you take LeBJOF's last suggestion by way of her link?

nakedandangry · 25/08/2011 16:16

Well I'm on the Havingkittens team.

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 16:17

I meant vicious not viscous obviously Grin

Pandalaw · 25/08/2011 16:21

A viscous arsewipe. Heaven forbid.

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 16:26

Ouch Shock

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 16:34

Sorry I read that as vicious arsewipe. That would hurt. A viscous arsewipe, eewwwww!

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 16:35

See, properly immature. Grin

MugglesandLuna · 25/08/2011 16:35

When I saw this in Active Convos I thought it was going to be a bizarre Baby Name topic!

PinotsWolefCubs · 25/08/2011 16:39

My God, a fight in S&B.

PinotsWolefCubs · 25/08/2011 16:41

Oh and I'm on team Havingkittens, fwiw.

SuePurblybilt · 25/08/2011 16:45

I had a fight in Babynames once. It could still be going on for all I know, I hid the topic Grin

TapselteerieO · 25/08/2011 16:58

There have been fights on S&B before. Never seen a non-fight like this before, usually people actually argue about clothes/style.

TattyDevine · 25/08/2011 16:58

I think Catswipe is being pretty snarky. I'm sure I've seen her post before and not be though. She might not like being told off. And Kittens did tell her off, however you look at it.

I'd let it go ladies. Tis Style n Beauty and it aint stylish nor bootiful Wink

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 17:13

Well, like I said, I wasn't actually trying to have a fight. I tried to make a point, genuinely in friendly cheeky sort of way. I have been mostly just trying to stick up for myself whilst being repeatedly cat swiped by someone who's face (maybe just this afternoon for my own personal enjoyment, given that she's not normally snarky) has been resembling the wrong end of the cat.

Pandalaw · 25/08/2011 17:21

Paul McCartney?

Havingkittens · 25/08/2011 17:25

Lol. Cats bum.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone. I thought if you TIA 'd the accepted form was that you didn't need to reply. I suppose I like a straight up response rather than the underhand sarky route. It irritates.
It's been lovely conversing with you all. Best wishes.

It is still usual to return to the thread. Or perhaps explain further why you were interested in how beatniks dressed ...Otherwise people don't know whether you need fancy dress suggestions, reminiscences, links to current fashion interpretations, or what, really. You did come across as rather rude, and I'm surprised you have found the interaction pleasant. Or was that sarcasm or passive aggression in your world?

Technoprisoners · 25/08/2011 20:13

Oh well, let's forget Catswipe (great name) and perhaps give some further token consideration of the Beatnik genre?

FWIW, an aged relative called my 16 year old self a "Beatnik", in a derisory manner: I was dressed in what I would call typical hippy fashion - tie-dyed long wrap around skirt, wooden beads, Jesus sandals ... which seems to be contrary to the rather chic image of Audrey Hepburn's "Funny Face" youtube clip earlier, and the much-maligned-by-Catswipe Kitten's helpful description of her mother's black cigarette pants and rolled-up turtle-necks (much more interesting, style-wise).

Shall we revive the topic for Catswipe to peruse, that's if she doesn't come back and play ball ...?
