Just looking at Jones the Bootmaker site for a pair for my mother (63,size 10,pretty groovy woman) for Christmas.

Do I go for classic (boring??) black ankle boots with asmall heel and pointy toe or something a bit more 'with it' .
Trouble is too with it will deffo be without it in the blink of an eye.

Any suggestions??

I have a pair of wedge heeled boots from Jones, bought last year, and I still wear (and love) them. If they are still being sold by shops like Russell & Bromley & Jones, then I'd say they are prob still pretty 'in'

Which style ndp??

god I don't know moondog I have never knowingly been Fashionable
I agree with NDP tho that if you shop at Jones they are unlikely to be High Fashion

NomDePlumPudding · 07/12/2005 09:35

Gawd, I can't remember Moony, they're not being sold this year though.

MrsMillsletoe · 07/12/2005 09:38

Go for the wedges, I bought this pair a while back and they have been admired by little sister and aged mother in law.

moondog · 07/12/2005 09:38

Eh harpsi??
You are saying the opposite to ndp now...

lol. I think if they are being sold in Jones etc then they are still in fashion for the avergae Joe on the street, but the slaves to fashion may not be wearing them this season.

moondog · 07/12/2005 09:40

Yes,was looking at those.. (shame about errant apostrophe in blurb though..that's put me off them even though I have some very nice boots meself from JtB....)

yes sorry that's what I was trying to say...
Jones and R&B will be Vaguely Fashionable and not High Fashion so won't look out of date next Tuesday
so prob fine

moondog · 07/12/2005 09:43

Yes,that's what I'm after.

I've no truck with these new fads as come and go like a summer breeze.

They're actually much nicer in real life too. For some reasonI got a free bar of chocolate when I bought them. Which helped.

NomDePlumPudding · 07/12/2005 09:48

lol

moondog · 07/12/2005 13:35

Just wondering if anyone else has something to say on this pressing issue (and yes,I know I'm like a bloody dog with a bone...)

If she's someone who hasn't got set ideas on what she likes in a boot I'd have thought wedge heels were a fab gift and a good bet, md. (I love my M&S cheapy wedge boots- extremely comfortable.)

moondog · 07/12/2005 13:46

Hmmmmmmmm, will now ponder $64,000 question of whether my mother is indeed a woman with 'set ideas of what she likes in a boot'. Hilarious!!!

Thanks sm-all comments appreciated!

What about a Jones giftvoucher - then your mother could choose!

moondog · 07/12/2005 14:10

True...but like me she hates shopping so this is a labour of love.
