im looking forward to seeing the clothes in her new shops. I love her style and ideas. I think they open this week in House of Frasier. I hope they aren't all for skinny minies though!

Yes, not good. Wtf are those fringe thingies.

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 18/08/2011 19:09

Very dull collection. Black skirt and white blouse - woo how innovative. Hmm

DontCallMeBaby · 18/08/2011 19:19

On what planet would that purple dress suit someone with curves? High neck to give you a monoboob, big armholes so everyone gets a view of your scaffolding, and a short hemline to show off what are likely to be iffy legs (I have curves; my calves are chunky but good, knees and above are NOT good).

dexter73 · 18/08/2011 19:36

I agree DontCallMeBaby - when I saw that I thought exactly the same! I couldn't think of a dress less likely to suit someone with curves.

I thought it would be more like Whistles

yes, I think generally the whole collection looks more downmarket and less stylish than her image and the rhetoric about older women wanting quality, etc would lead you to expect.

But I guess a lot of work has gone in to what will be commercially successful.

I like her look. On her. That is -all but the hair. The style needs sorting. If you are going to work a bob with fringe it has to be a bit more, well, sharp and Vidal Sassoon. I'm thinking Corinne Drewery. Next the colour. I don't think it works as she is clearly a natural brunette.
Needs sorting Mary.
Love the shoes but the leggings business is old hat. Where is her statement jewellery?

Katisha · 21/08/2011 23:14

I was hoping for great things from the new Mary Portas shop.

However - despite being her target market I don't think there's anything there at all I would want.

It's like fancy dress. And it's still all for thin women.

pointy toes are back in apparently. 1999 all over again.

catswipe · 22/08/2011 13:51

Ooooooh I DO love a pointy toe but on flat boots with buckles up the side ( spot the goth in the 90's)......
