How can I make my face look slimmer, any tricks?

I'm 38 weeks pg holding alot of water in my face and feel very unattractive. Its my dp's bday at the weekend so we're having a little party. What can I do using make up to make me look better? It's my chin and chubby cheeks that seem to be the problem

What hairstyle do you have?

Shade with bronzer under cheek bones.

There are contouring methods but even though I'm a makeup artist I'd probably not do it on myself. I think you should keep it simple and have a go with a non shimmery bronzer. Try bourgeois for example. Looks like a choc bar Suck cheeks in and apply bronzer to the sunken bit. Try to blend it well and take on to the temples. You can take it on to jaw line but again when I've tried to do it on myself it doesn't quite work. You need a brush that isn't too big and that isn't all squared off across the top.

Use it over your foundation or tinted moisturiser. Also volume on crown can help - maybe get a blow-dry / hair up from
A local hairdresser.

I have past shoulder length mid brown hair with a heavy blunt fringe but rarely wearing it down at the mo with the heat. Most days I scrape it into a high bun with fringe clipped flat back or quiffed up.

I'm a bit nervous of bronzer as I am incredibly pale (glow in the dark pale!) is the bourgeois one quite light or am I in danger of looking orange?

Mmm ok if you are very pale you have to be careful and the b one is quite orangey.

Have you got any blusher because well applied blusher will bring out cheek bones. Same deal though you need a good brush.

Yep I have blusher, a few different colours going from pale pink to more of a cherry red. I have a pretty decent brush, body shop one. Might go on YouTube see if there's any tutorials.

What hair style do you have? Hair is one of the best ways to 'trick' people into thinking you have a slimmer face.

I love contouring too. Highlight under your brow bone, your cupids bow and down the length of your nose. Use a big gluffy brush with a matte bronzer to contour underneath your cheekbones and under your jawline and finish with a slightly shimmery or light reflective bronzer or blush on the apples of your cheeks sweeping upwards and blending in to your hair line.

Gluffy? I meant fluffy!

Don't use bronzer to contour, it's too orangey or brown looking. You need to find either a contouring powder, or a face powder or powder foundation that's about 2 shades darker than your skintone, or you can use a taupe coloured eyeshadow but you need to make sure it has no orangey, bronzey, pinky, or (especially!) greenish tones to it - it must be neutral.

You need to use a contouring brush that's cut to an angle but with a soft rounded tip like this one www.maccosmetics.com/product/146/324/168-Large-Angled-Contour-Brush/index.tmpl for best results.

Use it to brush around the sides of your forehead and temples, bring the shading down and under the cheekbones and then around the sides of your jaw and under your jaw bone. You can also do this along the sides of your nose if necessary. Blend the contouring well as you don't want any hard lines. You can then highlight the boney areas to accentuate the contouring, as others have mentioned. If you're not a fan of the shimmery look you can use a matte cream or ivory coloured eyeshadow as a highlighter depending on your skin tone.

If you go into somewhere like MAC they will show you how to do it effectively.

I have a naturally round shaped face....height at the crown of my hair is my friend always.

Straggly bits at the side also slim my face a bit.

I wear my hair like this....the pic' is of Sarah Palin...I don't like her much but like her hair do's!
