Knickers - I'm starting afresh with my knicker drawer, what should I get?

So, I have knickers Grin but they're all old and tired - I was pregnant, and I had a baby, got badly torn (actually ripped to ribbons), and am having my undercarriage redone. So I thought I'd start from scratch with my undies to match my nice new...er...! Wink

I don't wear strings, and all my current nicks are M&S minis, which are comfy and dependable (don't ride up!) but I'd like something a bit more exciting. What can I get that's fancier, but still dependable?

I won't do g-strings (with my piles?!), I find shorts tricky because they tend to ride up for some reason, and I've had some strange ones from Sloggi. (And besides aren't sloggi all white?)

Any advice? Or is it back to M&S?

I got some lovely ones from white stuff. Lace edged and lots of different colouts. They are big though! A bit like shorts but do not ride up. They had loads in th sale and ended up being about £2.50 in the sale instead of £7.50. I am normally a size 12 and the small fits great in the shorts not the knickers. Good luck in your quest! x

M&S Brazillian knickers here! They are fab. Since had DS cannot bear strings and the Brazillians are very sexy (I think anyway), comfy and don't give a wedgy or ride up. Have 2 black, 4 white and 2 antique rose. Must buy more!

John Lewis own brand are the best basic undercrackers EVER

ten times better than mark et sparks.

The posts are all very nice and practical (and since becoming pregnant I am eschewing my Aubade thongs for M&S cotton briefs), but please add a couple of pairs for fun. I heartily recommend a pair that tie at the sides. You don't see them very often, but worth researching. Get a silky pair with long ribbons. (they will even be comfortable and fine under jeans.)
When your other half sees them he will think that it's Christmas.
Enjoy. Wink

I hate M&S brazilian knickers- especially as I bought 3 pairs straight off. They disappear up my bum in a most uncomfortable manner. I like thier bikini ones, and in summer I have to have 100% cotton.

Don't like thier High legs as they seem to come up to my waist and are BIG knickers.

However, they are pretty boring, even with a bit of embriodery.

I had alook at Next and Fig Leaves and they seem to do similar but with a bit of lace trim etc etc.

Interesting. I am a bikini knicker girl. M&S say these have full bottom coverage Grin. Apparently, this is what I need. Brazillians give me a wedgie. Shorts don't ride up so much, but so many have a seam at the front which isn't comfortable. I do have some with "new stay in place technology" which are nice under snug fitting trousers and skirts.

What used to be called tanga briefs but are now called bikini are nice. these

I also hate M & S brazilian, they are torture to wear, constantly trying to retrieve them.

Like John Lewis for basics, though recently got some M & S high legs in a silky no vpl fabric (5 pack) and they are lovely.

Can't beat Freya pants for posh and pretty, whilst being so comly you don't know you have them on, loads in the sale atm, got a few pairs from Debenhams for £3.15 each the other day.

Also like La Senza, but have to buy at least a size bigger.

Still not got to M&S but intend to do so in London next week - I will buy 1 pair to see how I get on with the Brazilians. I wonder if some people are more prone to ride-up? I wonder if I'm one of those people?
High legs - dreadful back view! Grin On me, anyway. And Tangas (why the name change, and what did tanga mean anyway?) tend to dig in where it's thin - they even do it on some of the models on the M&S site! Shock

I bought some M&S Brazilians yesterday after reading about them in the DM and on here. They look great, fit well, are very comfy and don't ride up. Yay! :)

jumpinghoops · 05/08/2011 18:49

I would say I am normally prone to ride-up with other knickers but never get it with the M&S Brazilians.

rednose · 05/08/2011 21:58

Gap knickers get a vote from me- great everyday ones which I purchased in USA. Have never seen them here though

PrincessOfWails · 15/08/2011 09:06

I have been test driving the M&S brazilians - and I'm pleased to report that they're attractive (or even sexy!) and they stay put! Hurray!

So many thanks to the knicker experts on mumsnet for sorting me out there!
