The best basic white t shirt?

or black, navy whatever. Who makes it? I have a few tees from Abercrombie & Fitch which are fantastic quality and still going strong after several years. But I don't want logos, just a basic white/black/navy tshirt. My Uniqlo ones stretched into tents, ditto Gap. American Apparel bobbled after a couple of washes. How hard can it be? Any ideas?

well, I like the M&S limited collection t-shirts. I have black and white. Made of stretchy stuff so they keep their shape as I like close-fitting tops. Washed loads, no bobbling or discolouring or anything after a year.

Kew do a good basic range with a scoop neck in white and other basic colours.I like them as the front is double layer and therefore not see-through, and they wash well and don't go saggy.
Avoid Gap and Per Una as they sag and have little stretch.

Seriously check out M&S - my favourite white t-shirt is from there.

I was after the same thing on here and top answer was banana republic

Hobbs? Just got brown, white and teal blue at outlet. Also White co. I find M and S a bit short but maybe wrong ones. (I am short)

samels001 · 04/08/2011 00:02

Normal M&S v neck plain white T. I am Simon Cowell of the tshirt world - you can never have too many and so what if they all look the same. It is my no 1 item in my wardrobe.

I bought a few from Asda, the George range a month or so ago, they're plain white with 4 buttons at the top leading down to the chest area, slender fit and look great on me, and even after several long hot washes they're still imaculate.

scarymamma · 04/08/2011 14:15

M&S T shirts are way too short in the body for me; I'm tall but not exactly supermodel stature at 5'9". H&M seemed to do good fitting tshirts (at least they did 5 years ago when I last bought one ;)

TadlowDogIncident · 04/08/2011 15:34

Another vote for M&S - I buy armfuls to wear under suits for work and they keep their shape really well. But I'm short and if you were average height or taller they wouldn't be much use.

Isabella Oliver 365
You have to check the feedback to get the size right as they can be big/small. But the jersey is great quality.
