when did u take ure lo to get haircut?

my lo is 14 months and he has thick curly hair which always gets in his eyes. is he too young to get it cut? when did u take ure lo's to get there first haircut?

Don't laugh but he was about 8 or 9 months old. He had certainly had at least one haircut by the time I took him to visit my family at 9 and a half months. He had so much hair though of the thick, straight, wont curl up or under variety that if I didn't I swear to god he would have had a bob by one year old!!!

(Yet my daughter has thin wispy annoying non-hair at nearly 2 years old grrrr)

Let him have a cut if its becoming a problem. Some kids suit longer hair some dont (boy or girl) so its certainly not "too early"...

your lo's i was asking. we r going to greece in a few wks and his hair is always in his eyes. just wondered what every one thought about it.

For goodness sake, just take him to a hairdresser and ask them to cut it. Easy as that.

I've taken DS1 since he was 12 months. He's not always been keen (massive understatement - he hates any sort of change) but really, you book an apt..take him along, the hairdresser cuts while you hold him down, read him a book and feed him skips simultaneously. Job done.

I'm teasing babyrose. DD is 4 btw and has never had a haircut in a haircutting shop type place. I cut it.

But where have they gone dear Reality, where? Is it like the other sock and the teaspoons and we shall never know or is it more p and q are on a street corner advertising their wares and begging for custom. Enquiring minds need to know.

Hair is dead, it doesn't "know"

If it needs cutting, cut it.

If it doesn't don't.

If it seems hard, thus is having kids.

Everything is hard (in a sense)

DS had his first hair cut at 7 months. Lost track of how many at 22 months. We use hairdressers who specialise in young kids (some don't) and only costs £5. I don't buy the whole waiting until full moon before cutting madness.

babyrose, it's an ongoing joke on MN. We just don't use text speak. Like I said up thread, it's only gentle teasing.

I kept dd's hair the first time I cut it. It's festering in an envelope somewhere. Lord only knows what I'm going to do with it.

If it's getting in his eyes I would get it cut. Mine had hardly any hair at that age. Dd2 is 3 and has still not had a hair cut, dd1 must have been about 2 before she needed hers cut.

My dd had her first haircut (by me) at about 2 and then every 2-3 months I would trim the dead ends off after she'd had a bath (hence it looking very wonky). Her first hairdressers haircut was this year (she's 4), she was actually the one asking for her hair to be cut at the hairdresser's, it was just a case of getting round to it. Will probably have it cut just before she starts in reception in September.

DS was about 14 months old. He used to go to the barbers to watch his dad(one of those proper barbers with the chairs and the staff dress in bow-ties and waistcoats). He went quite a few times to watch and get used to the idea.
When it was his turn he was quite relaxed.They put a board seat across the arms to raise him.And the 'Batman' cape.
He always got a little toy car from Woolies.Now he gets a donought.

I took him when he was 2.6 and the barber commented on how well behaved he was.Apparently one mum just sat there while her DS kicked him in the balls-ouch

Babyrose - DS always used to come with me to my hairdressers and when his hair was hanging in his eyes (he was probably just over a year) he was quite comfortable with my stylist giving it a trim (they never charged me extra).

It's really not a huge deal.

We now take him to the barbers (he's 7) as they give out lollies
