Sizes- which one to buy in different shops?

Just saw someone post on another thread that a size 6 in River Island is like a size 10 elsewhere. Monsoon sizes come up pretty big too, as do Next. Can anyone shed some more light on this as it would help when I'm shopping in a hurry and can't try things on!!!

Markies are huge too.

Think demographic eg - marks, older women, big; Top Shop - youngsters, slimmer, little.

Stereotypical generalisations, but that's how it's done!

Don't EVER shop without trying on. Ignore the sizes, buy what fits. I own stuff in every size from 6 to 14. Would agree about the demographics - M&S, Wallis, tend to be big to size. Also cheaper shops are small to size as they skimp on the fabric. And on top of that it kind of depends what you're buying, even within the same shop. Like I said, ALWAYS try on.
