I need some flatish black casual boots to go with skinny jeans, tights etc for the Autumn. What do you think of these??

Fab boots, would buy them if I could.

TragicallyHip · 23/07/2011 23:02

They are not too bad. I probably wouldn't buy them but I reckon no one would laugh at you Grin

TheFarSide · 23/07/2011 23:05

They're really nice.

I'm the nearly 50 year old who wears leggings with dresses on the other thread, so you might not want to trust my opinion.

mittenkitten · 23/07/2011 23:06

They are really cute.

normalshmormal · 23/07/2011 23:07

Like em. I bought a pair last winter from toppers and these look like exactly the same basic boot but have a different strap arrangement.

Look good with lots of different things and are comfy without being middle aged.

fannybanjo · 23/07/2011 23:09

tragicallyhip you've just put me off.... Grin. I only like positive feedback ya see!! Wink. Hmm I'm not sure. I may keep looking.. Any ideas?

Nothing wrong with being 50 and wearing leggings thefarside! However if when you're 61 and wearing Leopard print harem pants like MIL I will ignore your style advice...Grin

fannybanjo · 23/07/2011 23:10

Fuck they're middle aged aren't they but cos they're in Topshop they're trying to kid me they're trendy...

FrancesFarmer · 23/07/2011 23:47

They're ok, not amazing.

pictish · 23/07/2011 23:50

They are very dull. If I wore them I would feel inordinately depressed.

Sorry, but you did ask.

fannybanjo · 23/07/2011 23:53

GrinGrinGrin haha are they the type of footwear an off duty funeral director would wear...?!

OP posts:
pictish · 24/07/2011 00:15

A funeral director with a BHS storecard, yes.

pissedrightoff · 24/07/2011 09:07

Hmm not convinced they are frumpy, watched a video of some trendy looking, young singer prancing about in boots exactly like these, skinny jeans and a vest with lots of long necklaces on, She looked fab.

ihatethecold · 24/07/2011 09:12

they are ok, but it depends on how you wear them,
bootleg jeans NO,
skinnies YES

fannybanjo · 24/07/2011 09:56

I would wear them with skinny jeans - don't own a pair of bootlegs! I've ordered this top from French Connection along with these trousers/jeans. So I wouldn't be wearing them with polyester slacks and a spotty blouse from BHS... Grin Only wear them during the day too.

OP posts:
ifancyashandy · 24/07/2011 12:37

Hmm. Not overly keen. Tricky length to wear too - they look like they'll sit right on the ankle and cut your leg off.

Sorry.

TragicallyHip · 24/07/2011 12:47

Now I have had another look and I like the style and see where you are going with the outfit but I don't think those are the right boots. There is something not quite right, I think maybe too shiny and they are a little cheap looking. Maybe a more worn/distressed look would suit better?

fannybanjo · 24/07/2011 13:27

Tragically. I have decided against them - for exactly same reasons as you say - I have a pair of Carvela grey/black boots which are more distressed looking so gonna keep my money in purse! They are too new looking - that's what's put me off and what makes them look bit middle aged. Grin

Grin

More of a dark grey/blackish is a better choice, save your money or spend it on a bag to go with the outfit Wink
