I've just bought these lime green peep toe sandals for a wedding:

what nail varnish should I wear?

I think you can get away with most colours on toes (except for blues, unless you have dark or very warm-toned skin). It depends a bit on your outfit and what, if any, fingernail polish you'll be wearing.

If you personally can get away with blue on your toes (I look like a corpse because I'm v pale and blueish-toned), how about a navy or a brighter blue? Otherwise:

  • dark red e.g. Rouge Noir or similar?
  • taupe/nude shade?
  • French pedicure?
  • hot pink?
  • orangey-red?
  • rich chocolate-brown?

PS lovely shoes!

Fimbo · 18/07/2011 09:21

I think nude.

Themumsnot · 18/07/2011 09:24

I'd go for coral. Or Revlon do a lime green called Beach, which might work.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/07/2011 09:31

Cote, yes, that's lovely and what I had in mind with 'taupe/nude'.

WhollyGhost · 18/07/2011 11:37

Thank you! I love all these suggestions. My outfit is a patterned dress which is cream/dark brown and lime green, so I am generally being a lot more matchy-matchy than my usual style, and either nude or a contrast would be good!

I am wearing coral now on my toes and it does look nice, but I love that Chanel's Particuliere, also rouge noir or navy...

I bought this Revlon one at the weekend, and it's dead sexy in a slightly slutty, Florida housewife kinda way Grin

Would look great with those shoes, which I LOVE by the way ...

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/07/2011 11:47

Bapula, that's bloody great. I think I'm too pale for it though Sad ? would look amazing with even a slight tan.

CherryDrops · 18/07/2011 11:51

I'd go with Particuliere or a darkish purple colour.

Gingefringe · 18/07/2011 12:03

I think a dark grey or taupe would look fab.
Love the shoes

lulaloop · 18/07/2011 13:21

I am very very blue pale and I wear tropical temptation on my toes loads and it looks really nice. I would recommend it. A nice simple bright red might look amazing as well.

I find that with my skin tone taupes and nudes on my toenails make them look a bit fungal Blush, not enough contrast I think!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/07/2011 14:29

lulaloop, maybe I'll try it after all! I second the bright red recommendation. Clarins do the best one.

applecrumbleandcream · 18/07/2011 14:42

I agree with very bright pillar box red, either that or hot pink. Both would look great with those gorgeous shoes. Not keen on nude colours on toenails.

Themumsnot · 18/07/2011 14:53

I've got that Tropical temptation, it's great. If you want Navy, Revlon's Midnight Affair is great. Not sparkly like it looks in that photo, quite matt.

WhollyGhost · 19/07/2011 10:14

so I am now thinking bright red or tropical temptation

Grin

Thanks all!
