Smart Casual for a training course in London

Are jeans OK? I don't have much else. It's an independent business related course - I'm not going as an employee of a firm or anything.

It's based in EC4, so the City. Will I feel out of place amongst all the suits?

Have you got any work type trousers? Just plain ones? Or a plain skirt?

I used to work in the city and canary wharf and would not have worn jeans to a "smart casual" course - I would wear my normal work attire (which was smart but not suit IYSWIM).

No work type clothes at all, as I have lost a load of weight, and my old clothes just hang off me. Old trousers won't even stay up. I haven't worked for ten years, so it's jeans or summer holiday clothes really. I have a couple of summer dresses that might bridge the gap, but jeans are what I'm most comfortable in.

Having said that sometimes people attending from other places would turn up in jeans and no-one slung them out or anything!

summer holiday clothes? yes the answer is a bikini!

I would say that as you're not representing anyone and not looking for work or contacts (or are you?) then go in jeans but be prepared for a couple of looks. May not happen of course. Hard to say! Your main worry is will they say you can't attend if you aren't dressed as requested and if you have paid for it (?) then the answer is almost certainly no.

I have been shopping, and bought a lovely pair of Hobbs trousers, and a couple of Mint Velvet tops. So that'll see me through at least the first part of the week.

After a couple of days you will be able to gauge whether you can wear jeans for the rest, and if you think that won't work at all you are in the right place to do some more shopping!

TBH if the trousers are plain people prob won't notice / care if you wear them for the whole week.
