what to wear for a christening?

i have never been to one before, and have one to go to a week on sunday

its a church ceremony then a party afterwards (in a pub i think?)

what on earth do i wear

A 'day' dress? Smart skirt and top? Smart trousers and top? Needs to be dressier than every day but not evening wear.

Pleas don't wear tight/revealing 'nightclub' type clothes - it's just my bugbear, I appreciate that people who do this are wearing their 'best' outfits, I get that, but it's just so innappropraite for a Church/Sunday afternoon, and I see it a lot at Christenings lately..

I would say ask if it's part of the usual sunday service. We went to one a while ago and got all dressed up for it but the christening was part of the usual sunday service and all the regular church goers were there in jeans / t-shirts etc. We looked like right twats all dressed up to the nines!

I'd go with something smart / casual - more on the casual side!

At my godsons christening last month I wore a maxi dress, for my nephews on Sunday I have a knee length floral dress.

Something smart but comfy really.

What size/budget?

size 8, and my budget is as little as humanly possible :o

personally I would wear something like a simple linen shift dress with a pair of kitten heels & if chilly put a cardi over the top :o
