Thick hair, please help!

My hair is driving me nuts. I'm holding back the tears at the moment - completely ridiculous, I know, but it's really doing my head in. Please help me.

My hair is really thick, I think I was a lion in a former life. It's not curly (apart from all the cow licks) or straight, I guess it has a big of a wave, but really it's just BIG. It's currently cut in a longish bob, which I'm constantly having to smooth down to stop it looking like a haystack. I accept this is at least partly due to my crapness at blowdrying, and probably the wrong products, but I really just want to put a bit of anti-frizz in, brush and leave it. Is that too much to ask? wails

What can I do with it, other than grow it long again? I really want it shoulder-length or shorter, but googling just throws up pictures of women with non-thick hair... am I doomed?

Get yourself some GHD straighteners.

My hair is completely wild until I've been through it with the GHD's, nothing else is as effective.

Also agree with previous poster about the Elvive Smooth Intense, brilliant stuff and sooo cheap.

Go find yourself a hairdresser who understands thick hair, as I've learnt to my cost that not all do. My best ever hairdresser was in London, in a salon which catered to the local Arabic community. Those ladies understood my hair.

I have similiar hair to yours and have a shoulder lenght layered cut, which I don't blow dry (as it takes ages). Had a salon blow dry recently for an event and it took the hairdresser 45mins to blow dry it. A good shampoo and condtioner (I like the Smooth Intense recommended above) and regular deep conditioning helps.

I have really thing hair too, and generally looked awful until I discovered GHD hair straighteners.

You need morrocan oil and TIGI blow out balm and spend some time finding a decent hairdresser who understands thick hair as mentioned above (deep cutting will be your friend! Grin)
