Can you recommend make-up brushes?

I've been watching Lisa Eldridge videos on make-up application and I want to get some decent brushes, but I don't know where to start! Anyone got a good set that didn't cost a bomb?

I have an excellent Sue Uemura one for makeup base, but it was expensive. My other ones are all Bobby Brown or Benefit, and they are very good as well. I have had them for about 3 years and they are as good as the first day.

I meant Shu Uemura

I like the ones Muji sells

I rate the ecotools ones from Boots, which are cheap. I also like some expensive ones from mac (the angled eyeliner, the pencil one (219), the angled crease (can't recall number), the 217 blending brush (an eyeshadow workhorse) and Louise Young (thin eyeliner one)

Paula Dorf ones are good (I have some old ones) but are hard to get here. Suqqu are good but $$$$

I believe pixiwoo has her own brushes, a line called Real Techniques, which I suppose will be good. Google.

I don't use any special foundation brushes, I have a barely used mac kabuki and use a bobbi brown domed blusher brush. Possibly a fake as I bought cheap on eBay.

Hasn't Lisa Eldridge done some brushes with No. 7?

I would really recommend the ELF Studio brushes. They're only £3.50 each and are modelled on the MAC styles - the Studio Powder Brush is amazing for applying foundation (mineral or liquid).

Have a look on Make Up Alley's product reviews - there a lot of brush experts on there and it's useful to see which of the cheaper brushes they rate. Some of the ELF brushes have rave reviews.

Body Shop brushes are excellent if you don't want to spend lots of money; if you do, MAC, Bobbi Brown and Chanel are good.

Ruby and Millie are OK, esp if you get them with one of those £5 vouchers, but I think body shop ones are much better.

I use Mac brushes with short handles. I have used Bobbi Brown in the past but i love Mac brushes the best by far.
