dh has given me license to spend for my birthday which is great! i have a budget of £250 ish to revamp/ replace my wardrobe now dd has arrived and i am done with pregnancy/ bf etc.

I tried to shop today with 8wk dd while toddler ds was in nursery.
DISASTER! :(
i bought nothing. i froze like a rabbit in the headlights. i'm lost.

Please help me!

i know i need a bra fitting, but not got round to it so that's job number 1.
what next?

what should i buy so i look half decent/ a bit stylish but i can also chase ds around the park in?

i'm 5foot2, size 12 bottom and 10-12 top. Bra is (i'm guessing) 32DD ish(?) but v saggy so not jordan-like boobs. broad shoulders, short legs and wider hips than before. i have pixie crop brown hair and green eyes and fair skin. i'm a converse/ birkenstocks sort of girl rather than wedges and maxi dresses.

links would be fab!

Big TIA! :)

yes that warehouse top is nice on- in blue too

AchtungBaby · 20/06/2011 20:43

The Topshop blazer that wideawakenurse linked to is lovely. As is this one.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 20/06/2011 20:44

This is fab ladies!!! Grin

Can't look at links properly on iPod touch so will browse once dh is off laptop.

I've decided I'm going shopping again tomorrow but starting with bra shopping. Then at least I'll know what shape I'm in.

The uniqulo blazer looks good. How's their sizing? I'm usually a 10 on top but have broad shoulder so end up with a 12 which can make a jacket bulky. Do they do free returns?

Cleavage is no existent at the mo- think I'm a dd as c and d cups give 4 boob effect so think bigger cup is the answer. Will see what John Lewis bra ladies say.

More suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!

DiNammic, what size of Uniqlo jersey blazer would fit a normal size 12 do you think?

AchtungBaby · 20/06/2011 20:48

Grin, I'm asking for the OP, honest Blush.

gapants · 20/06/2011 20:54

What about seeing if John Lewis has a personal shopping service? You can outline what you are looking for based on what you have seen here. JL has a good selection on in store franchises like Whistles, French Connection. That way you would get a good idea of what works on you.

I would happily spend £250 on 4/5 great items that would last and last rather than trying to get a little bit of everything.

chocolateteabag · 20/06/2011 21:05

Try Joules sweatshirts for park friendly tops?
I am living in this navy stripe one - there are still size 12's left in the sale.

Next Ultimate Boot cut Jeans are also fab- stretcy and cut high enough to tuck my flabby tummy in!

Boden sale should be starting soon - some of their cotton tops would be good for park fun too?

Whenisitmysleepytime · 20/06/2011 21:22

collision not sure any of that next stuff is really me. Thanks for looking though!
high waisted jeans are not my thing - i feel cut in half when i sit down! Blush

achtung uniqulo jacket is only available in L or XL :( sure i can't be a L (can i?)
i'm a bit wary of non fitted tops as i can just look a bit thick in the waist iyswim. those sandals are nice though - might try on next time i'm near schuh.

gapants not usually a zara fan tbh. again not sure about non fitted tops, is there a trick to getting the right proportions?
those trousers are nice but i think i'd have to grow half a foot to fit them. think my bum could look huge in pleated trouser...

actually on the whole non-fitted top thing what is the trick? i just look little and short/ pregnant/ fat. how do you do it?

i'm afraid i'm not a lover of boden or joules. full stop.

i've booked personal shopper sessions at john lewis and house of fraser but they're not till july and the money is burning a hole in my pocket. i'm so impatient once i decide to do something....

i'll also freely admit to being VERY fussy at times. thanks all!

I'm a marks 14 (tits). Got an xl

AchtungBaby · 20/06/2011 22:08

Good luck Whenisitmysleepytime Smile. I'm not sure what the 'rules' are about non-fitted tops, although I try to do the don't wear 2x loose things (ie top + bottom), or 2x tight things.

Thanks DiNammic! Hmm, so a size 12 might be okay in an L...

faustina · 21/06/2011 06:57

I have that uniqlo blazer and it's very fitted - definitely size up. Are you ok about 3/4 length sleeves? Because that's the reason why it's one of my "wore it once and now hangs unused" disasters. I just found the sleeves v irritating - could be me though!

faustina · 21/06/2011 06:58

p.s. not sure if uniqlo do free returns - look on their FAQ. You can return to shops though, if you live near one

DiNammic · 21/06/2011 14:42

i think not a while ago
dont all shops have to refund returns now?
