Tatoos; anyone got one on the base of their spine?

I've wanted a tatoo for ages and I know exactly what I want. However, I am a real wimp so don't know if I should have one at the base of my spine or on the top of my buttock but to one side. Does it hurt?

I am not doing this as a fashion statement but as an improtant symbol in my life.

Dreadful things, but if you want one why would you want to hide it? and have done in a place you can't see?

i had always loved tattoos but waited til my early 30s to finally get one - it was when i separated from exh and it was definitely a bit symbolic as defineme says. but i like the fact that it is generally not on show, it sort of feels even more special to me because of that.

dh has got one he had done as a teenager and he isn't fond of it at all, regretted it the moment he'd had it done, but i kind of like it just because it shows a different side of him, an echo of the young man i hadn't yet met, and it's quite at odds with the image he presents now that he would have a bloody great dragon on his shoulder.

I have a big one at the base of my spine, and it stretches out all across the bottom of my back. Was absolute agony tbh, hurt more on the fleshy bits than on the actual spine. It took 2 1/2 hours, constant pain, I bit a chunk out of the chair! Much worse than my foot ones. I maintain that childbirth was preferable. Not what you wanted to hear probably. I do love it though. I just don't fancy getting inked again anytime soon.
