I wear SPF 50 and still get some colour to my skin so I'm not sure if anything prevents it entirely apart from covering up/staying out of it. SPF 2 is pointless and dangerous IMO.

I think you would need to try the early 1990's...

I saw some spf factor 2 (called tanning oil or something like that) in poundworld today.

I use spf 25 or more and tan.

Carriedababi (and everyone else),

The factor on a sun lotion is the protection against UVB. UVB is what makes you burn.

The star rating is the UVA protection. UVA is what causes DNA damage which can lead to skin cancer. UVA is also the radiation responsible for going wrinkly.

Sun creams with a high factor and low star rating allow you to tan BUT in letting the UVA through you are leaving yourself open for skin ageing and DNA damage.

Saying 'i also make sure i never ever burn, as thats where the real damage is caused imo' Your opinion is completely incorrect. The real long term potentially lethal damage is caused by UVA which doesnt burn you. So saying you dont let yourself burn does not protect you from the risk of cancers.

Saying all of that there is still no concensus as to whether sun creams do actually protect against skin cancer. Many suncreams containing vitamin A have been shown to potentially increase the risk of becoming cancerous + Suncreams are filled with oxidants and free radical chemicals - And we cake this stuff all over us.
