Waterproof jacket

Okay, forget my post of a few days ago when I was hunting down a light, fold up small pac-a-mac .... I've changed my mind!! Now I want a proper waterproof jacket which will keep wind and rain out. I can't get to an outdoor shop and I need to order something to have it (or plural to try on) here by Friday!

Does anyone have one they can recommend please? I'd be quite happy with something I can later zip a fleece into for winter but equally I don't want it too heavy a jacket to wear now.

All suggestions most gratefully received!

Danefae Else midseason. Pricey but worth every penny. It's perfect for windy and rainy summer days, but not for hot days obviously.

Thanks DonaAna .... had a look but not really my style. Guess I was thinking of Berghaus, Jack Wolfskin etc etc. but I am open to all suggestions as there is probably something a bit more stylish out there.

I like Barbours - the rainbow international is v lightweight, looks smart and comes in lots of colours. Also like the polar quilt but may be a bit heavy for your needs...

I have this but it is too warm for now. This one is lighter.

If you like Berghaus, I'd go for the cornice as its a slightly longer fit than most and you can interact a fleece into it.
It also has a goretex membrane so its highly waterproof and breathable.

Or, you could go for The North Face range of jackets which are also very good.

Patagonia stuff is £££ but extrelmely good quality. My waterproof jacket is 9 years old - has done 6 winters of mountaineering and 3 years of buggy pushing and is still in excellent condition.

Have a look at their website Women's Patagonia stuff - they are not despatching mail order at the moment, but I bet if you give the Hathersage (Derbyshire) shop a ring (01433 698 336) they'd post you something out (DH used to work in their sister shop, and they are right next to the post office). The Torrentshell jacket looks to be up your street.

Failing that, try Lands End. I have heard good things about thier waterproofs and their customer service is excellent. I bet they'd get you something by Friday if you rang up and asked them nicely.

Patagonia and Land's End sizes are both quite generous.

Thanks everyone! Have had a look at all your links and then some! Trespass just might have something. What are the opinions on these if anyone has a couple of minutes to look ( in no particular order of preference)

I've got a Berghaus Glissade jacket, long enough and the right shape. North Face stuff tends to come up shorter, so beware if you have a average to longer body then they won't fit as well. Berghaus and Jack wolfskin are longer ime.

Maybe a bit overkill but I love my buffalo its furry inside and has a zip across the boobs and my windbreaker I can't do hoods so I have one of those snood thingies, it has another name it's a hat and a scarf in one. I also have a balaclava and a guiness hat woolly and warm. I also have a seventies second hand wool toggle jacket thats too big and fur lined, I have this wool spray drench thing that keeps it waterproof, love it. I live in the very far north of Britain, hence to me this is not overkill. Oh and those base layer tops it has to be over 20 degrees for me not to wear them with a wool cardi, I hat being cold!

Shall have a look at all of those, thanks, and then must order before bed. I've wasted spent the last twomhours looking at them and am cross-eyed

I've got the Berghaus Glissade, as I'm 5'10" and find a lot of jackets too short. The colour is nice - purple. Generally I prefer North Face, but they can be cut a little short.

I bought mine locally, but have bought other things from Taunton Leisure online, they are v. quick to deliver and usually quite competitive.

I have this, as recommended by someone on here. It is great and I was very snug and dry in the wind today. My other mac actually gets wet in the rain and this did not, the water drops sit outside. I got the red and am thinking that I can wear black/navy/camel underneath - practical, child chasing clothes - and the red will lift the whole thing instantly.
