Where to get jeans taken up in London...

Have just bagged some gorgeous (and bargainsome) Hudson jeans but, whilst they fit beautifully everywhere else, they are way to long for me. I've never bought posh jeans befoe and didn't realise they are made for tall leggy supermodels. I need at least 2/3 inches taken off the bottoms. Is there anywhere in London I can get this done, preferably retaining the original hem? I've heard this can be done but is an art...

Could you try your local dry cleaners? Ours does it, though I have the opposite problem

I could, have certainly had other jobs done ok by them, but not sure about entrusting them with this task. Was hoping there might be a specialist place someone had used?

One of my friends, who is very particular about her jeans and has short legs gets hers done at her local in Penge! I could get the address for you?

Selfridges has an excellent service. Both DH and I have had jeans taken up with original hem retained and it's not ridiculously more expensive than our local place either.

Crazy, that sounds good - how much was it? And do you have to have bought the jeans there? I didn't.

Was also thinking of Jeeves of Belgravia dry cleaning chain - they're recommended on the ilovejeans website.

It's not difficult! Cut off excess, turn up hem, stitch. Should take 20 mins-max. If they want to charge you vast amounts- go elsewhere.

I have several pairs needing this treatment but was going to do a DIY job tomorrow

Jonnyfan the trick is retaining the original hem so the jeans don't look weird at the bottom, they look how they were intended, just shorter. It's possible, but not easy to do. Certainly not something I could do myself. I wouldn't normally go to such effort, only these are pretty swanky jeans (for me anyway) so I want a nice finish.

no sure where you live, but there is a chain called "sew" that are great. Ask for an "original hem", unless they are confident they can match the thread.
