Handbags - Lucia in tan or Mariella in pink? One hour before I buy, please vote!

We have £250 to spend on a handbag for our boss. She's around 60, stylish and loves bright colours. The idea is that this gift is a long term thing - not leaving gift, but that kind of set-up, so not something to throw away in a year.

I'm going to buy tonight, as I keep changing my mind all the time anyway.

Please give me your vote:

Lucia in tan,

or

Mariella in pink

Pink one is very much her, but tan one possible more practical / long term?

Thank you ever so much.

PS: TattyDevine, if you see this, sorry for gatecrashing your other thread!

Oh Ducky NOOOO, have you tried the collonil stuff, it gets most things off??

7to25 · 09/06/2011 21:56

I have been thinking of the tan for myself, but if someone gave me the pink I would cry with delight.
With yourself, you have to be more sensible than you do with a gift, IYSWIM

MisSalLaneous · 09/06/2011 22:05

It's weird, I didn't think about it that way 7to25 (and someone else mentioned it earlier, I think), but yes, of course a gift should be something lovely, a treat, vs the sensible choice. Not that Lucia not absolutely beautiful, but you know what I mean.

duckyfuzz, how awful! I take it you've tried baby wipes?

The deed is done.

I got the tan one for myself. Or rather, dh did, he just doesn't know it yet.

Lesson in life: Don't let credit cards lie around, it's not safe.

FebreezeYourJeans · 12/06/2011 20:26

Oops see i'm too late Grin

MisSalLaneous · 12/06/2011 21:29

That is nice, thanks anyway Febreeze. :)

Update: Both arrived today, and I'm really not keen on the pink one in real life.

Even the less boring young secretary was against it, so it'll go back.

I've kind of run out of time now - the Lucia is lovely, she'll like it, right? Or really boring as a gift? If needs be, I can do an emergency shopping trip at lunch, but have no idea what else she'll love.

Blimey, if someone bought me a Lucia I would be over the moon Grin....Lovely lovely lovely gift.Envy

MisSalLaneous · 13/06/2011 20:19

Thanks parroty. :) It does mean I'm losing my Lucia, but I can always order again later.

Still time for the Karen Millen!

MisSalLaneous · 13/06/2011 21:22

Hmm, might have a look during lunch tomorrow, but I'm kind of put off pink now. Was really disappointed, I was convinced I'll, and more importantly, she'll love it.

polyhymnia · 13/06/2011 21:38

I think the Lucia is a brilliant gift antone would be delighted with. But then, I hate pink anyway!

MisSalLaneous · 13/06/2011 22:05

I'm feeling slightly better about this now, so appreciate your reassurance. It's so hard to buy a gift coming from a group, isn't it? Especially since I'm deciding, so it'll be all my fault if awful!

Just wanted to post a big fat thank you for all the lovely posters that listened to my ramblings on this and the other thread. We gave boss her bag today, and she absolutely loved it!

madammecholet · 16/06/2011 20:28

That's great news... Tis a lovely bag!

Curiousmama · 16/06/2011 20:33

Pink and choclate brown one is gorgeous. Tan a bit meh imo. Agree lucky boss.

Curiousmama · 16/06/2011 20:34

Oh sorry thought it was a current thread Blush

MisSalLaneous · 16/06/2011 20:39

hehe. No worries. I loved the pink one in principle (all exciting, suited her personality etc), but we really didn't like it in person. Maybe for someone younger, but it wouldn't have worked, so we stuck to Lucia instead. She love it, so all worked out in the end!

That's good then. Smile
