My hair is dreadful - dry, dull, like straw, really

... despite having spent a decent amount having organic colour at a good salon lately, using proper salon shampoo and conditioner, etc.

I also use VO5 Hot Oil once a week, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Oh, and I use a drop or two of Kerastase oil

Is there any miracle product out there that you might recommend? I'm desperate.

Thanks!

i would recommend elasticizer by Philip Kingsley. It is truly amazing, using it weekly makes all the difference to my hair.

the permanent blow dry is a LIFE CHANGER. Costs me 80 quid and lasts three months. Shiny, well behaved hair that does as it's told.

There's no way I would go back to having frizzy hair now!

Thanks for the continued tips - am making notes! On the oil note, I thought I'd give it a once-off boost with Bio Oil, but just made my har oily and sticky. Have washed off properly now, and will give the Kerastase oil and heat protector a chance for two weeks to see.

My hair was like that till I started using Ojon restorative hair treatment once a week and now I get lots of people commenting on how lovely and shiny and healthy my hair looks. Its a miracle worker!

Who knew there were so many great solutions out there - I should have asked long ago!

Have you tried Kerastase Masquintense? I swear by it and have similar hair issues to you. It's about £20 a pot from hairdressers but you can buy a massive pot off EBay for about £40 Smile

HappyAsASandboy · 11/06/2011 16:44

I have frizzy dry hair that I have to straighten every time I wash, otherwise I look like worzel gummidge (sp?!).

I swear by Kerastase Aqua Oleum. I have them at the hairdressers, and also use them once a month or so at home (buy online, cheaper than buying from hairdresser). They're about £4 each if you but online in a box of four, but if you did one a week for a couple of weeks, then one a month, I think you'd be amazed at the difference.

MisSalLaneous · 11/06/2011 17:09

No, haven't tried the Masquintense. I'm strongly considering changing to Kerastase altogether (will decide finally after these two weeks, as my collection of "try this"s in the bathroom is getting out of control), as whatever I've used from them, has been good. If I do change, I'll get some as treatment, I think.

However, saying that, I'm getting myself all confused here - HappyAsASandboy, would you use that as well as a masque (alternating perhaps), or instead?

Have also considered the permanent blowdry Lowlevel recommended, but have wondered about long term effects. Guess if cutting down on straightener use, it cancels that out anyway.

I think I need a complete body makeover. A reset button would be good ...

Aussie 3 minute miracle?

MisSalLaneous · 11/06/2011 17:19

I've tried that, alice, but for some reason didn't really make a difference. Same for VO5 hot oil, which used to work but probably gave up on the state of me! :)

Omega 3 oil (not 6, we've all got too much 6) To eat, not rub in.

MisSalLaneous · 11/06/2011 17:26

Ah yes, I forgot, after the reminder about importance of diet earlier, I started taking supplements again - had a box of the Pregnacare 2-bottle stuff lying around. Will check whether it has Omega 3 in, but I think it might. Would be good if it helps.

My hair was absolutely crap after over-highlighting, like straw and breaking when I combed it after washing. Tried a new hairdresser for an all over colour this time instead of highlights and she recommended Joico shampoo and conditioner. As I am a sucker for new products I bought it. It was the 'colour endure' shampoo and conditioner and it's been absolutely brilliant. Never heard of Joico before but it's really helped my hair. Would really recommend it.
