I'm off on my jollies soon
I habve a halterneck swimsuit but need to have something to cover my hippo sized legs :( My mum suggested I cut up a pair of old jeans but would that get me kicked out of the pool?

I could find a swim skirt today :(

HELP

Don't do the cut off jeans, it just draws attention to you. Imagine the horror if a life gaurd makes you peel them off! I opted for a retro swim dress thingy (la la la thats not drwing attention la la la)

I realise that this suggestion doesn't really belong in Style and Beauty, but Land's End has some swim skirts which don't look too awful. Also an adjustable tankini top which ruches (hides stomach) and can adjust to pull over thighs

I tried the board shorts last year, when we were unpacking at home my DH asked to sling them as they were hideous, when I'd uploaded the pics I had to agree. I think a well fitting swimsuit and I sarong as soon as you so much as sit up. But also thinks this is quite nice:

I've got a Lands End swim mini which is pretty good at hiding the worst of things when pootling around

What about a kaftan type of thing - I have a few, fairly low cut, so you can see the costume, but hits on the knee, thus hiding my thunder thighs. . . .
I got one in Tescos last year - they usually have all sorts of cover-ups . .

EttiKetti · 07/06/2011 14:43

what about just a short, skirt type sarong and whip it off as you get into pool ?

Have to say I bet my thighs are worse than yours (huge amounts of excess skin BLEK) but I still know there will be worse than me when I get there....try not to worry :)

wendihouse22 · 07/06/2011 15:47

I do short sarong thingies. I swim in them rather than take them off. Two minutes on the sun lounger and they're dry. You won't look odd. You will look a bit strange swimming in cut off jeans .... not to mention hot and uncomfortable.

Have a lovely time and remember, there'll be larger ladies than you out there, enjoying the hols!

All that cover up stuff will only draw attention. Fake tan, stand up straight, and strut your stuff with confidence! I speak as the owner of "powerful" thighs, but always notice that women who look confident and happy look good no matter what size rather than skulking round trying to look thin. And a kaftan/dress for wandering about/getting drinks.

there are these,

but to be honest as others have said I think they'd draw more attention than not.. I do have a retro swimming costume with a tiny little skirt on from Debenhams which covers up the very top of my thighs (don't feel QUITE as exposed)..

This is what I have (it comes with straps), it's out of stock online but I saw them in the shop at the weekend -
