An absence of podge?

cybbo · 05/06/2011 22:29

When you jiggle, not much wiggles

if we're talking specifics, i wouldn't call anyone over a 14 slim unless they were about 6 ft 2

To me slim means not podgy but not skinny either - a nicely proportioned body that looks healthy.

Slim is a word that to me is not 'skinny' or 'thin'. Slim looks healthy I guess. I got a shock when I saw a photo of myself this weekend. This time last year I was size 8, at 5 foot 7 and thought I looked great. I looked hideously unwell. I saw a picture of me taken just yesterday, when I've been convinced I have put on stacks of weight since christmas. I'm now a size 10 to 12 and look slim. Perfectly healthy, but not scarily skinny, and certainly not the heiffer I have been convinced I'd turned into.

Anyone slimmer than me = slim.
Anyone fatter than me = fat
Me = Perfection Wink

Actually I think slim is an opinion, it tends to be subjective. I know from conversations we used to have on the A&W thread LTEC that our definitions of slim are probably different.

chrisonabike · 06/06/2011 08:24

slim is a compliment, skinny is not.

Slim is what I aim to be. All the time Smile

Slim is proportionate and healthy (looking. Though it doesn't always follow that you ARE). You can be slim and wobbly/have cellulite. It's a fine line between slim and skinny. Skinny you can get away with as a youngster....coltish etc. But as you age, skinny = hagard in my book. Shapeless.

I'm a wee bit TOO shapely myself so I aim to be slim (er) but when I lose too much and go skinny, not good. Saw a photo of me from 18 months ago at a friends 50th. God Almighty.....I thought I looked good at the time but facially, I looked like the screaming skull! [shocked]
