Which Epilator

Have had a trusty corded Braun Silk Epil for 6 years and thinking about updating it. I have no problem with the pain thing because of years spent waxing and hair is nice and fine and hardly notice it, maybe just round the ankles. However I am blighted with ingrown hairs and after years of epilating the pores on my legs look big and dark iykwim. Have resorted to shaving this last couple of weeks to try and get my legs back to a decent look, which it has but the blasted stubble and dark hairs are back and I want to go back to epilating.

The question is ladies, which machine to get? Have seen and advert for a new Braun cordless wet n dry Silk Epil that has some Venus razor attachment that goes after the epilator to kind of exfoliate the skin afterwards. Does anyone have one? Does it work? Is it worth the stonking £90 price tag on Amazon? Are epilators in the £90 price bracket worth it over those in the £50 zone?

And any recommendations about the ingrown hairs. Should I be getting myself some exfoliating gloves and some Tend Skin?

TIA

It sounds like I have the same epilator as you, so can't really advise about any others...Personally prefer a corded one so you don't have to worry about charging it or the charge running out before you've finished, and didn't think I was likely to use it in the shower anyway!

I think you definitely need to exfoliate and moisturise regularly to prevent ingrown hairs - I still get a few, but always got them from shaving as well so it's not just an epilator thing.

I am currently trying the wet/dry silk epil. I have terrible ingrown problems and despite extensive exfoliation and waxing - if you are not using a loofah or gloves you will defintely have problems. I find that a salt scrub (like the Body Shop ones) used dry before the shower works quite well.

I thought I'd give the new silk epil a whirl because the razor bit should actually help exfoliate. Will report back. I have tried it once and it is SO MUCH FASTER than the regular way because the razor pick up the lost hairs. I figure that the stonking price tag is worth about 4 leg waxes in the salon, so reallly it pays for itself :)

Thanks roary, look forward to hearing back how it's going.

marking place

i got a fairly cheap silk epil (i think it was the silk epil 3) but i find it misses loads of hairs and i also am plagued with ingrowing hair afterwards. disappointing.

but i also saw the reviews of the more expensive ones on amazon and wondered whether to try one - seems to say they are less painful, pick up all hairs, even very short ones.

id be very interested in knowing if the price tag is worth the results.
