i think i need to really cut back on using straighteners. my hair is becoming straw!

my hair looks terrible just blow dried. if i leave it to dry it waves quite nicely for about an hour then they drop out and look scruffy.

its under shoulder length and i want to grow it out long but when it gets long enough its always in awful state at the ends.

i cant tie it up for a year!

i have just bought a difuser to try and have been looking at heated rollers....any thoughts? any tips? i already use heaps of condidtioner and always serum (god forbid i forget htat step!). i tried the 'no poo method' but it left my hair dull

I use argan oil and Boots curl creme.

mummissinghermind · 30/05/2011 21:10

Yuko straightening system. Invest.

daimbardiva · 30/05/2011 21:14

I also use an oil that contains argan oil, and then a smoothing creme, and either just blow dry quickly, or twist into curls and blowdry/leave to dry.

I've only been able to do this since starting to use the oil - it does make a difference. I use this

Invest in a brazilian blowdry. They are expensive (about £10) round our way, but they really do work, leaving your hair soft and silky and last several months

crystalglasses · 30/05/2011 21:15

Sorry £100 not £10.

sungirltan · 30/05/2011 21:20

was about to say! £10 is not expensive!

thanks fols will look into these :)

I've been following the advice on this site recently
www.haringtons.com/advice.php
The Q that starts "We all struggle ...", I don't use the products listed but follow the general rules. It's taken me several decades to learn how to dry my hair! I can't get it as sleek as the salon can but at least I don't need to use straighteners all the time to look OK. I do run them thru quickly after sometimes if I want it smart and glossy.

My hair is very thick, then it goes fluffy, frizzy, or straw like depending on the weater.

MrsSeanBean · 31/05/2011 13:31

Babylis Big Hair? I've found a good alternative to straightening for 'calming' my hair down.
(Brazilian Blow Dry also good idea.)
Any intensive conditioner (leave on for at least an hour). Followed by...
John Frieda Frizz Ease serum, then leave to dry partially, and finish off with Babylis. HTH.

Argan oil here too! Fab stuff!

sue52 · 31/05/2011 18:08

I wash my hair every 5-7 days and never brush it, just run my hands through to keep it in order. I massage a good dollop of Moroccan Oil about half an hour before shampooing and use Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner and comb through whilst it's on. I allow to dry naturally which gives me wavy beach type hair or go over it with the GHDs. When it's dry I rub a bit more Moroccan Oil. Over the years I've learned to treat it gently, anything harsh makes it frizz like crazy.

Yes ruby, however it seems to act as a conditioning treatment and my hair is more manageable after.

Or should that be a pre shampoo conditioning treatment?

Cafefrappe · 31/05/2011 18:21

Where can you buy argan/morrocan oil ?

sungirltan · 31/05/2011 19:39

yes where can you buy this magic sounding product?

valiumredhead · 01/06/2011 12:53

Amazon does it for £10 for a 30ml bottle which lasts ages as you only need a few drops.

byanymeans · 01/06/2011 14:52

The morrocan oil is great my hair dresser uses on my hair al the time but at home I use Lush R&B it works great for me. I put a bit in my hands, rub them together and scrunch it though my hair. just put the R&B though it and dry scrunching it up with a micro fibre cloth. I find the R&B is better as it holds a little of the shape of my hair style but the morrocan oil is great if I want to use a hair dryer or irons and drying it straight my hair.

PinotGrigiosKittens · 01/06/2011 15:02

Moroccan oil (original blue label) is better IME than Argan Oil - theres been a lot of threads on S&B about the two products. A decent bottle is £30 but lasts 6months+ (mine nearly 8months)...cheaper stuff has fillers in. HTH :)

sungirltan · 01/06/2011 22:49

micro fibre cloth?? also is the morrocan oil the brand name?

OP posts:
PinotGrigiosKittens · 02/06/2011 12:13

moroccan oil
