I've never had threading done before and had run out of wax and thought I'd give threading a go so looked up some tutorials on youtube and thought it looked pretty straightforward.

It's bloody brilliant - it took about 10 mins to get the hang of it (I might get some thinner cotton) and then I was off - 'tache is no more and I discovered fluff where I never knew it existed - why didn't my friends tell me about my bumfluff side burns :o

Anyway - I had to come and post about how easy it was before I threaded my entire face off as it's scarily addictive :o

yy Prolesworth I was wondering this too, I tried to hold thread vertically iyswim but was too fiddly.

Bearcat · 29/05/2011 15:46

Blabala.
I could have started this thread myself last Wednesday. Saw some people doing this on a trip to Cardiff last week and googled threading on Wednesday (saw a different lady describing it on my video) and then had a go.
It really is easy, and so amazing that it picks up some of my eyebrows I can't even see.
Twas all very exciting and I had to text my sister in law who is a trained beauty therapist who decided she was going to teach herslf the technique.
I joked to her that I may be bald the next morning if I carried on as I was.
Got my bit of cotton sat in my bathroom cupboard now for when the next urge takes me----- maybe now!Grin

For the mono brow I held the thread at 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock missing my nose and then going backwards at 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock. I had to be careful not over thread or would have taken a tram line into my eye brow!

Bearcat - I am practically sitting on my hands to stop myself from over-threading :o

This has to be one of the all-time bestest-ever threads on Mumsnet! Thanks so much for posting the link to the clip. IT WORKS!!! Grin

Been scared to try doing anything to my top lip as I really don't want it growing back worse. How do people find it comes back after threading?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 29/05/2011 18:52

I tried it....I picked up a few hairs but only one or 2 per pull. Is this normal? If it is I can't see the benefit over tweezers.

I am looking to an alternative to wax for upper lip. Anyone tried those rotatey springy epicare wand thingys?

TattyDevine · 29/05/2011 21:09

It never grows back worse if you have it out from the root Fuchzia - it will only ever weaken the follicle...

As long as you don't' get ingrown hairs which will show as spots but you shouldn't for such fine hairs...

hadagutsfull · 31/05/2011 16:29

Haunted - If you're still looking at this thread - I've got an epicare and I find it pretty good. It took me a while to get used to it but I find it brilliant for my tache and chin. I find it easier to hold it actually on the springy part rather than on the handles, that works best for me.

I'm still practising the threading but can't seem to get it quite right - it works sporadically but I can't get it accurate so the hairs I'm trying to get stay put but I get a bald patch elsewhere Blush

Angelsus · 31/05/2011 19:05

The link to the video isn't working, can anyone post to it again

HauntedLittleLunatic · 31/05/2011 19:57

Ty, caught a side on glance of my threaded tache and realised I had done more than i thought, so had another go. Second time I used polyester thread which was more slippery that the cotton I used first time and it seemed to work better. I also went in both directions and seemed to do a better job. With a bit more practice and tweezers to catch the evasive ones I think I will be giving up on the wax.

tattycoram · 31/05/2011 21:57

Oooh I really really want to do this

The light in our bathroom is rubbish and I often wander round with v bad chin hair

ZacharyQuack · 01/06/2011 00:34

Marking place till I get home from work.

Tempted to pull a thread from the hem of my top and hide out in work loos.....

OhHelpOhNo · 01/06/2011 10:54

Thank you thank you blabal Grin

I can't get to a "threader" very often and tweezers are slow and boring, this is much more fun!
