Skin Care, what's like Origins?

I love Origins facial skin care stuff, and normally afford it with birthday Debenhams vouchers. Didn't get any this year, skint and low on face stuff. I bought some Neutrogena stuff a few weeks ago instead, but don't really like it. Is there anything more "high street" price that is similar to Origins?

I specially like the "Cheeks and Balances" face wash, which is all creamy and frothy but does not make my skin tight and dry.

Also need moisturiser.Combi skin, liable to spots and pregnant!

marking my place as am pregnant and already have started to break out and need to change my skin care stuff.....

I used to use Checks and Balances and now use Olay Regenerist which is often on offer at Boots or Superdrug. I use the Olay moisturiser too now (used to use Have A Nice Day) but again, only buy it when on special offer.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 22/05/2011 21:21

The Origins is nicer to use but tbh I think my skin prefers the Olay.

What about Organic Surge? I have started using their cleanser (lightly foaming) and it is very gentle and so far not drying. Contains proper essential oils etc.

I have also switched to Dr Organic stuff from Holland and Barrett and that is lovely. Their Manuka Honey range is excellent and very healing for sensitive skin.

Both ranges are cheaper than Origins.

What about the Boots Botanicals Organic range too? I haven;t tried it myself but heard good reviews.

BikeRunSki · 23/05/2011 08:02

Never heard of Organic Surge, but it sounds promising.

I have hated everything I have ever had from Boots Organic, or in fact any Boots own-brand stuff, so may give that a miss and will try and track down a Holland and Barrett.

Boots botanicals has a ton of junk in it!

Have a look online on soorganic and sites like that.

Neal's Yard is fab! Tiny amounts go a long long way!

brandnewme · 23/05/2011 12:34

And unfortunately the 'cheap' ranges are cheap for a reason - rubbsih/potentially harmful ingredients...

LovelyDaffs · 23/05/2011 12:38

Soap and glory get good reviews, I know they do a hot cloth cleanser. I haven't tried it yet, but am planning to when I run out of my existing stuff.

cornsilks · 23/05/2011 12:38

holland and barratt organic stuff has won an award - was in the paper yesterday.

TigerseyeMum · 23/05/2011 20:38

Expensive ranges can have rubbish ingredients too, just marketed cleverly.

Dr Organic has won plenty of awards, though they are not 100% organic.

raspberryshake · 23/05/2011 20:43

Neal's Yard Remedies? I use their stuff.... It's fab! No nasties in it either! Their New Mother and New Baby ranges are brilliant! They've also got organic sunscreen. X

brandnewme · 24/05/2011 07:03

Good point Tiger - one look at the stuff in Clinique says it all, for example

Also there are no regulations regarding the 'organic' content of organic beauty products. If you really are wanting the best, you have to really read the ingredients list. And just because it's not organic doesn't mean it's bad - eg sea salt scrub can't be organic as salt isn't a living organism.

NYR are very open and honest about their content and ingredients - lovely stuff!

brandnewme · 24/05/2011 07:05

100 % organic products are likely to be oils and balms too...

MissFoodie · 24/05/2011 07:17

yes and no, there are some organic creams out there, and some are not that pricey either - I only use natural products, not necessarily organic though, and there are some brilliant brands out there. I love oils and balms, but I've found some great creamy cleansers and moisturisers also.

I've used Dr Organics from Holland & Barrett which is great (shampoo and conditioner excellent). Not 100% organic but not many products are; they are free from parabens and other nasties though. Love Lula is a good site for natural products and stock varying price ranges.
