Inherited brooch to make into pendant - can someone explain the Jewellery Quarter?

For my 40th I was given a lovely gold/opal brooch that had been my grandmother's. I would like to have it made into a slightly more contemporary pendant. Really I would like to take it somewhere like this (where we bought our wedding rings) but we are near Birmingham now, not Scotland.

Can anyone recommend a jeweller in the Jewellery Quarter or should we just go and wander around (have never been)? I am baffled by the thought of so many shops and how do you know which are the decent designer/makers?

Yes it was the website that baffled me. Where do I go/park? I may be able to tempt DH out there with promises of cafes and cakes.
