Baby naming ceremony - what to wear?

We have been invited to a friend's baby's naming ceremony. It is in a fairly informal surrounding and may involve being outside by the sea.

I know what I would wear to a christening, but what do you wear to a naming ceremony? I have this maxi dress which I bought for a fairly informal wedding, could I wear that with wedge sandals and a cropped cardi?

Then there is the matter of what do the DC wear... I have two boys aged 7 and almost 9 and a girl aged 5. I was thinking that if it nice weather the boys could wear short sleeved shirts and long shorts, but what if its raining? Would smart jeans be too casual? As for DD I like this dress and she would wear it again, but does she need something more dressed up?

What about DH, suit or smart casual?

Help!!!!!!!!

If it's an outdoor ceremony I would go fo smart jeans for the DCs. The maxi dress would be fine. (I'm a naming celebrant).

Thanks. I've never been to one before, but am really looking forward to it.
