Ugg Kensingtons TOO TIGHT

Am so sad. Boots arrived today and I can't get them on! Is this an internationally recognised problem or are my feet weird? Please can anyone help as I really don't want to return them. BTW I think they would fit if I could just squeeze my foot through the ankle area Sad

Just copied this from the Office website - Fitting: The UGG Australia Kensington are tight fitting so we recommend you take a size above your normal size.

So it seems they are small. Can't you return them for a larger size? It's not worth keeping a pair of boots on the off chance that you could squeeze your feet into them.

Flakes · 18/05/2011 17:32

Thanks Dexter. Flippin' Cloggs website said they were true to size and just order as usual. Also they are 5.5 so I reckoned I'd be safe enough. Not sure what to do now as the foot itself is probably fine. Maybe I'll get DH to jam his big plates into each boot to stretch them. That just sounds wrong...

OMG I had this when I tried them on in Selfridges - truly one of the most embarrassing times of my life - I managed to get them on after an amazing struggle, they fit fine and felt comfy, but getting them off was a different story!

After trying on my own and pulling all my back muscles, the shoe lady tried to help and couldn't get them off....then gradually referred me to about 10 different assistants who tried and failed, until this huge burly bloke who was shopping with his wife offered to help and we eventually got them off - I had to hold on to the assistant while he yanked at the boots!!!

Needless to say I didn't buy them Blush

Can't believe I just told you all that story, haven't been back into the shoe dept since!

Flakes · 18/05/2011 17:55

I love that story, Berri and can fully imagine myself playing your role in that scenario. I was hoping the story would end with the boots stretching and that you all lived happily ever after with cosy toes. What will i dooooo?

I'm afraid I tried them on too, and found them really tight. do they do free exchanges? Could you bear to go up a size? I did when I tried them on, but then they made my feet look like door stops, so I bought something else instead.

If it were me, I would email the shop and say that they were misleading in their description and should send you a free returns label. I bet even the UGG website says they run small

shinyshoes · 18/05/2011 19:13

I found them to be like builders boots, like i'm on a building site, not at all ladylike, I just clump around like i'm wearing a pair of massive great Timberlands. ( WAS SO DISSAPOINTED EVEN HAD COMMENT ABOUT 'WHY ARE YOU WEARING YOUR OLD MANS BOOTS)

OOPS shouty Blush

the worst £250.00 I spent and haven't heard the end of it from the DP

Anyway, I bought a 7, i'm a size 6. one side seems to be tighter than the other, but i'm putting that down to one foot being slightly larger than the other.

The website did say go one size above

shinyshoes · 18/05/2011 19:14

I would never have got a 6 on

chocoholic · 18/05/2011 19:16

I was lusting after these boots and had the same disappointment when I went to try them on.
Not you, definitely the boots. However you do get to save £250 Smile

Sammy74 · 18/05/2011 19:20

I had the same problem - there is a knack to getting them on. You need to pinch the back of the ankle and slide them on. They are very annoying!

Once you get your foot in they are the right size.

I wore mine this winter and I swear they loosen up a bit after time.

Flakes · 18/05/2011 19:49

Oh Sammy, I think I love you Grin I too have lusted after them and when I found them a bit cheaper (£170 plus postage) I just went for it and have been looking forward to delivery all week (saddo!) Now I've been given hope I shall have a glass of wine or 4... It is Apprentice night after all.

Why r u buying uggs now it is nearly summer?

They r ridiculous to get on and off.

Berri I have tears rolling down my cheeks that is hilarious. I had similar experience in NYC when there was a faulty zip on pair of boots I tried on the assistant was getting ready to cut them off...

Flakes · 18/05/2011 21:00

I am buying Uggs cos they were a bit cheaper and I have been coveting them for many months now.We live in an old, draughty house and I have a DH who is reluctant to turn the heat on! Also, apparently everyone has Uggs and I liked them Wink

Royalcucumberchopper · 18/05/2011 22:12

Had mine 4months, still very tight to get on of but. Snuggly and warm on!

I used tha Harrods code so got them for £115, bargain even if they're a pain to get on.

OwlMother · 18/05/2011 22:16

Have had mine since September, still a pain to get off and I did go up a size, tried on my regular size and ended up wedged in them!

IME, they don't loosen off that much.

Flakes · 18/05/2011 22:31

Cucumber, I thought I'd got a bit of a bargain but you win... Am worried that DH will need to be phoned to come home to release me. Owl- do you need to roll around on your back to wrestle them off??

OP posts:
Royalcucumberchopper · 18/05/2011 22:37

Just pull very hard at the bottom of heel, mine have softened a little but not enough really. Do not go near them with a polish shine cleaner though, I thought it would clean the suede but they went a bit shiny for a while!

OwlMother · 18/05/2011 22:38

Not so much any more, stand on the heel of one with the other foot and wrench hard. Dh stands there muttering about how much they cost and so on!

Is a bit embarrassing if putting on and off at peoples houses/ shops.

BUT I do love them, very cosy and a bit more like boots than some Uggs, I think they can look very slipper like.

Flakes · 18/05/2011 22:48

Right. Am going to persevere with them employing pinching and general manhandling. Still, it's a shedload of money to wrestle with in the name of Ugg. Bollocks, this was meant to be joyous.

OP posts:
DottyP · 19/05/2011 09:19

I bought some last winter and had to go up 2 sizes and they were still tight. BUT they have stretched and are now much easier to get on and off so stick with it!

Flakes · 19/05/2011 11:25

Thanks for encouragement Dotty. Now wondering if I should go up 1 size... Arrghhhh

OP posts:
dexter73 · 19/05/2011 12:38

Have you actually managed to get them on yet? If not I would go up a size!

Flakes · 19/05/2011 13:23

I got the right one on but the left seems like a no go Sad. Phoned Cloggs to see if there is a 6 in stock but was told no Sader. So now am struggling with potentially butchering left boot or admitting defeat. Off to google size 6 Kensingtons!

Meggles76 · 19/05/2011 19:20

Berri - that story so made me laugh Grin thank you!!
