Lumea for Asian skin

Hello wise S&B thread people,

I'm after some advice. I'm very tempted to get a Lumea as I'm fed up with waxing/epilating/shaving, but I'm Asian and wonder if my skin would be too dark for it to be effective. I'm also wondering if it's just an expesinve way of replacing one hair removal device with another.

So does anyone have one? Or something similar? How dark does your skin have to be to be too dark? Does it really reduce the amount of hair? How often do you use it?

Thank you!

Home laser removal you mean? Can't directly help but I had laser at nationwide chain as a mixed asian and had to stop after several tmts because of pigmenting. And they had to use a different machine on me to on some of my paler friends- there was a constant waiting list for that machine. Interestingly lots of (likely to be dark) muslim men and women apparently had all over tmts there as body hair seen as unclean- according to therapist, clearly I did not wander around demanding to know what and why they were having done.
To try to make it more effective I stayed out of sun for a year beforehand and during in as tan superquick. I am v keen to buy a home device, but waiting until technology develops. My spanish friends had better tmts and results than I did so suspect dark technology is out there, just hasn't reached UK yet. HTH a bit

Thanks caramel. What are tmts?

I got one last May and now have almost no underarm hair, bikini line much less and I can go a couple of weeks without shaving my legs (although my legs do still have patches of hair but it is much finer).

I am a bit rubbish at doing it every 2 - 4 weeks like you're supposed to, I tend to just do it when I remember but when I do use it as you should it works really well.

I'll have to find the instructions to check about hair/skin types but I think it generally doesn't work on very fair skinned people with red or fair body hair.

I paid £399 and it's now reduced to £280 which I think it is worth.

Thank MrMis, good to hear from someone who actually has one. At the moment I epilate (or wear longsleeved tops and trousers!), so replacing one with another wouldn't be too bad, I think.

treatments, sorry

I much prefer it to epilating as I always seem to get ingrown hairs when I epilate and it was too painful! I sometimes epilate the hairs I've missed with the Lumea.
