Open toe tights: Yay or nay?

I have a bit of a leg-related dilemma.

I like to think I'm fairly stylish, but fear I may be committing a massive crime against fashion ith the purchase of these open toe tights

In my defense, I live in Scotland. I have decent-but-slightly-blue legs. Even with some expertly applied St Tropez, they look blotchy. I've seen the 'make-up for legs' spray, but I live in fear of a surprise rainshower.

I'd love to wear some of my beautiful peep toe shoes with work skirts and dresses over the summer, and thought open toe tights might be a solution.

The S&B verdict, if you please...

won't your blue toes give the game away?

That's what worries me, beloved. Although I'll be wearing peep-toes rather than sandals. Tan legs and blue toes can't be worse than the tights-and-sandals combo, but is it much better?

I have worn them to a wedding - the very, very sheer, bare leg look ones from M&S and they looked fine. With peep toes you can hardly see your toes anyway, just make sure the nails are nicely painted.

The only problem I had is that they looked really silly when I took my shoes off to dance, but I guess that shouldn't be a problem at work!!!!

Definitely a good invention. Agree the M&S very sheer (7 denier I think) are great as they don't show, it just looks like you have a very even skin tone.

And I put ballet pumps in my bag in case I take my heels off, covers the open toe bit, which is a bit granny-ish, I agree. But not as grannyish as tights & sandals, and much better than blotchy blue legs.

And tights stop your dress clinging and smooth out lumps & bumps and VPL too.

yes, when I wore them it was purely as the dress I was wearing was quite short and it was September in Edinburgh and I didn't feel comfortable or warm enough to go bare-legged. I don't think it looked like I was wearing tights.

Thank you all!

Bizarrely enough, I just nipped into M&S on the way to the office and picked up those very tight.

Hurrah for the peep-toes! :o

The excitement has clearly taken over.
