Want to look at my Taaz makeover and help me decide on a haircut and if you think I should get braces?!?!

I m namechanging and removing these photos last thing before going to bed, I am very scared, usually lurk as not stylish nor beautiful! Need to decide though, want to have a bit of a change!

The power is all yours people, I am really bored with my hair, I went on this website www.taaz.com/makeover.html#tab=lipstick and found a thing for adding different hairstyles, it's very addictive, but am still undecided - I have curly/wavy (can make it straight easily, wavy or very curly depending on drying with not a lot of fuss) brown higlighted hair, a fat face round/oval face, and am up for a bit of constructive critisism! I would probably have about 15 mins to sort my hair in the morning for work, longer if going out. I like slightly quirky clothes, would like to be a bit more trendy really but too lazy

I am also thinking of getting braces, going for an appointment tomorrow to discuss it - when I see my teeth I hate them, always have, but really wonder what others think? The cost is my biggest worry, I lack confidence when smiling, hate photos of myself, but I wonder if it's more what I see than others, I strangely have felt more like this since DD was born (year ago, and still carrying a few extra pounds).

So would you take a look at my profile and give me honest feedback? (about the hair, and teeth, but really, any feedback at all is fine!) Can't ask friends, they always say I look fine, I want honesty!!

Goan, you know you want to!

I think it's the blunt fringe with the wavy hair that I like, maybe get a modern loose perm

missmakesstuff · 17/05/2011 22:46

Thanks guys - have taken the pics off, as no-one needs to see that! also don't want to out myself in RL! Since there were no hideous comments haven't bothered namechanging, wasn't as bad as I thought...

I got my hair cut today, went for similar as the first one, but he straightened it today, will wear it curly/wavy mostly - lucky it will hold pretty much anything! Thanks for helping me to decide, I told him I was all ready to go in and ask for a jaw length cut like number two, he said it would have been horrible as hair too curly, and agreed the fringe was best, you are all genius! Looks lovely, have had loads of comments.

Braces - was quoted £££ but going to go for it I think!! Thanks for all the comments, I think I am going for ceramic tooth coloured ones on top, and metal bottom, need one tooth out, but he said they should straighten well in less than 18months!! Eeek! Tulpe I read your threads when deciding what to do, have you found the ceramic ones discolour at all? someone also mentioned that they think they are somehow more noticeable as its odd to see just the wire - but have to admit they looked amazing when he showed me. I also am scared of having the tooth out, but that is my only worry, very excited actually. Just have to find the cash now!

Ursula - I am struggling with it too, it went really well to begin with, but then I couldn't listen to the CD without feeling really uncomfortable, just couldn't relax enough. Have been doing the 30 day shred, and running a bit, but life is just too short to get stressed about it all I think, I am back in my size 12 jeans, will never be skinny but enough for me I think, just need to be confident with what you have.

God, haven't seen a perm in YEARS are they still allowed?!?

lol at lady gaga makeover for your DH

Haha, you are lucky to have curly hair - new hair sounds fab! I think they went through a phase of 'permanently setting' hair with those massive rollers to give a long loose curl thing but it was probably just as wrong and smelly as old perms.

You sound so much more confident already! I am going to re-join slimming world (I know, I know) but have had a nice few months just not thinking about it and getting my head around what I want.

missmakesstuff - I haven't found mine have discoloured at all. You need to stay away from turmeric as it will stain them. I had one minor incident the other week when I accidentally ate something with turmeric in but a couple of thorough scrubbings brought them up to new standard again :)

I think they are more noticeable than you think they will be. When you see the promo pictures, you have to bear in mind that they are on straight teeth. Where you have a gap between teeth, the wire is noticeable because well, you have a wire across an empty space! I have had mixed reactions: the majority of people have said they haven't noticed at all. I had one mum at the school gates announce to everyone within a 50 mile radius "Tulpe, are you wearing braces??" But she has a reputation for being Lady Snide of the School Run so I let it go and just smiled. TBH, I got over the embarrassment quickly because I desperately want straight teeth. I also found that it took me about a week to get used to eating with them in. I couldn't face eating in front of other people as it just felt too messy. Doesn't bother me now.

My advice is to go with whichever your orthodontist considers best for your teeth. If I were having it done again then I would definitely go for the metal brackets as they do the job best. I was persuaded by my own vanity to go for ceramics but there isn't a lot in it.
