Rosacea - makeup & skincare recommendations

SaveWaterDrinkWine · 16/05/2011 20:48

I have today been diagnosed with Rosacea and been prescribed Tetralysal and Metrosa.

I really could do with some recommendations for products that wull help my skin - namely moisturiser, facial wash and foundation.

Does anyone with Rosacea use Liz Earle products?

Many thanks

Darphin's Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum is hard to find but works wonders for me. A small jar lasts a long time because you only use a small amount at once.

Dermol 500 facewash. It takes the redness away. It did for my acne pretty much overnight and I wouldn't be without it! Comes in a mahoooooosive green pump pot, on prescription Smile

I have rosacea, it gets worse the more stress I am under. I have recently had a course of ABs and also a prescribed gel to use morning & night (sorry, can't remember the name). I usually use Elemis plus a lovely Estee Lauder moisturiser (smells of cucumbers). Some lovely ladies have recently bought me some Liz Earle products, but I haven't tried them yet.

The one thing I could not go out of the house without at the moment is my Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation. It is miraculous. Absolutely bloody miraculous. People see my skin before application (and look sorry for me) and then nearly fall over with shock when I apply it. It makes the redness and the spots disappear. It doesn't look like I am wearing a heavy makeup and there are no tide marks. I cannot recommend it enough.

I do realise that foundation is just covering up the problem rather than making it better, but at least it makes me look better - and therefore feel better.

Would be very interested to hear of anyone's 'cures' for Rosacea.

Avene thermal water range
-soapless foaming gel for sensitive skin

  • soothing serum
  • anti redness emulsion
  • soothing moisture mask

Also used DArphin, but when my skin is sensitized, I find the plant concentrations too high and irritating.

they also do a concealer stick, half green to neutralise redness and half neutral to cover.

Clinique has a very good creamy compact antiredness foundation.

And the Nars concealer is just the best product on the market

Am going to try double wear, heard lots of good reviews.
Is it moisturizing as well?

Many thanks for your replies - I currently use Dior 'Nude' liquid foundation but I'm after something like a tinted moisturiser which offers coverage as I find foundation at this time of the year too heavy.

Will definitely give the Avene range a try.

Thanks Smile

I get roseacea. Laura mercier tinted foundation is excellent.

I never look in Style and beauty but glad i did today!!! I pretty much just suffer in silence with my rosecea. I had ABs years ago which really helped but being pregnant last year made it really flare up. I treated myself to some moisturiser with a green tint and a clinique foundation but they don't help much.

I find it hard as i have very dry skin nowadays and am also very pale. Piling on make up to cover my skin does not work well.

Going to check out some of these products!

Dermalogica range for me.
I tried most of the ideas people have given further up the thread but nothing worked. Since trying Dermalogica as recommended on here my skin is so much better. I have the ultra calming cleanser and skin smoothing moisturiser. I went for a consultation and paid beauty salon prices the first time but since then have bought from the internet which is soo much cheaper. Products last for ages and the relief of not having stinging skin is worth it for me.

I use Elizabeth Arden foundation can't remember name but something like ceramic. Will try the Estee lauder doublewear recommendation too

I've had good results with cetaphil cleanser, my skin has calmed down a lot (am assiming it's the cleanser, anyway). Have just started using the moisturiser, too, which I am not wild about, but it's ok.

I've had success with La Roche-Posay and Eucerin.

Diorskin Nude is like poison for my very mild rosacea. The consistency is lovely, it glides on smoothly, I love the coverage, but within a month I became allergic to it and it irritates my eyes like crazy (I have eye rosacea too = extremely dry eyes). Diorskin Nude makes my skin flareups much worse. Foundation is tricky as my skin is a combination of dry, red and sore, but Revlon Colorstay seems OK (it makes my skin very dry but I can cope with thorough cleansing and moisturizing). Anything that's very sheer in coverage won't work - the redness and bumps just won't be covered.
