conditioner in a pot rather than a tube is a LOT better

Bachs Rescue Remedy. I was downing this stuff by the litre and I was the total opposite of calm.

Could be, my stresses were just way to big for a little yellow bottle with a dropper!

TrillianAstra · 18/05/2011 14:17

Anything that uses "the power of genes".

If it really did anything to your genes wouldn't you be a bit worried?

mumonahottinroof · 18/05/2011 14:56

La, la, not listening, it must be the best ..... it must

wendihouse22 · 18/05/2011 15:28

"You need to use our products in synergie"....words spouted by some (Clinique being one of them) of the larger skin care lines. And before you know it, you've spent £200 on face stuff!! Or should that read guff?

That was when I could afford it as a twenty something. I now use Oil of Olay, Waitrose own brand stuff and I look fine. Just fine.

slug · 18/05/2011 15:55

Rescue Remedy is nothing but Brandy in a tiny bottle wendihouse. Far, far better to go for a decent sized nip of the stuff.

ComradeJing · 18/05/2011 16:00

Pore Minimisers. I have yet to come across one that works.

rockinout · 18/05/2011 16:02

Serums

cyb · 18/05/2011 16:07

SHAMPOO in general is a total waste of time and money

TheProvincialLady · 18/05/2011 16:12

Clear mascara DOES have a use. It is for those of us whose eyebrows are too long. Not underplucked, but too long. I could have one single eyebrow hair and it would still droop, making me look like that man out of Rumpole of the Bailey. It sticks my eyebrows back where they should be.

Hairspray comes in two kinds only - sticky or crispy, make your choice. Don't spend a fortune on it and definitely don't be a gibbon and buy a pump spray as I did once. You can't pump that fast. No one can pump that fast.

Emo76 · 18/05/2011 16:14

Frizz Ease
Moroccan Oil

didn't work for me (long, ringlety, frizzy bonce)

cyb · 18/05/2011 16:15

Provinicial- PLUCK IT

And also trim your brows...I thought everyone did this?

TheProvincialLady · 18/05/2011 16:17

I DO pluck. And get them waxed every month. I have tried trimming before but look like one of those misguided teenagers. Is there a trimming technique I should know about? Though honestly, with clear mascara I look just beautiful and it stays in place all day.

cyb · 18/05/2011 16:21

Well, I like to brush all hairs upwards...the trim along top of natural brow line

then repeat brushing downwards and trim along bottom brow line

I just think it makes them look really neat

wildfig · 18/05/2011 16:26

deodorant that 'won't leave white marks on your clothes'. Pshaw. Right.

CaveMum · 18/05/2011 16:29

TheProvincialLady get thee to a threading person - far kinder to the skin than waxing.

Suncottage · 18/05/2011 16:32

The second the sun comes out we should be dressing in a 'nautical style'

Every frigging year without fail.

TheProvincialLady · 18/05/2011 16:34

I did have them threaded once but there is no one near me that does it. She did say it is kinder than waxing but it does take ages doesn't it?

TrillianAstra · 18/05/2011 16:40

I don't see how threading is any different to waxing or plucking - you are still pulling the hairs out.

ginmakesitallok · 18/05/2011 16:42

Agree re any face cream that says it makes any difference - if it did it would be a medicine and sold as such.

aquavit · 18/05/2011 16:55

think waxing can take a bit of skin with it too, can't it? But agree that don't see how threading is different from plucking (unless you routinely stab yourself in eye with tweezers)

TheProvincialLady · 18/05/2011 17:00

Yes waxing definitely takes off a tiny bit of skin layer. I was pink and tender for only a couple of hours after threading whereas with waxing it is a day. That might be the heat of the wax on delicate skin though.

I have had an exploratory trim and I think it looks ok, but the hairs nearest the middle are still long and droopy, don't know how. And they look thicker so I am dangerously close to having sperm shaped eyebrows. What should I do to remedy, please?

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/05/2011 17:16

Showing my age - but all that shading that was the rage to give oneself a narrower nose and cheekbones - sort of Joan Collins at the height of Dynasty look.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/05/2011 17:16

Oh and wtf are penti-peptides??

Only things that get rid of wrinkles are botox and fillers.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/05/2011 17:17

Am a threading advocate though mostly because I think the people who do it (I go to blink in Harvey Nichols) have a much better eye for what shape eyebrows work for you rather than just doing a generic tidy up.
