What age to start a skin care routine?

That's it really, what age did you start your dd's with a basic skincare routine and what did they use on their faces before that?

I personally wouldn't dream of using soap on my face but that's what I tell dd to use, I was thinking about getting her a very very gentle face wash.

I should probably admit she's only 7.

Am I being OTT?

Before anyone asks she is my only child and extremely precious Smile

I should add she uses soap and water when she's had sunscreen on her face or she's been running about and sweating, otherwise just water and a flannel.

I don't really have a skin care routine yet and I am 32! I would say cleanser etc when puberty starts.

I admit to being a bit obsessed with skin care.

My dd used Simple face wipes from about age 7. Like you I would never use soap on my face so came to the conclusion why should she? She is now 11 and has lovely skin Grin

flannel and water until she wears make-up. a gentle scrub might be a good idea when she hits puberty.

Wipes are a good idea, I used baby wipes on her face until about a year ago when she objected to them because they said baby on them.

They work for us. I've experimented with a few different brands as she's got older and now tend to buy what's on offer, no adverse reactions so far.

I didnt start until I was about 12-14.....less is more!

JustAnother · 15/05/2011 13:27

I started when I was 12/13. My DS uses a flanell and water, and Simple mosturiser twice a day. He's 7.

Flannel and water. After that, it's up to DD (13) what she wants to do. I'm not going to do or say anything that's going to make her feel she's not being a proper girl/woman if she doesn't spend hours and £££ smearing gunk on her face. She'll come to that conclusion on her on soon enough Sad.
