Please recommend me a shampoo/product to strip unwanted colour of out my hair

My stylist put deep burgundy/purple streaks in my hair at my last appointment, and it looked glorious when it was fresh but has since faded to a reddish colour which does absolutely nothing for my skin tone.

What can I use to strip as much of the red out before my next appointment in three weeks? Stylist recommended adding bicarb to my shampoo and leaving it in for ten minutes. So far that's given me lovely soft shiny hair but the colour doesn't seem to be fading too much.

Any advice? Thank you! :)

Any medicated shampoo will do it, but vosene is definitely the best. And with it being red it will be even easier. you need to condition it well after using it though as it strips everything out, including all the good oils

Colourb4 extra strength will get it all out

My hairdresser friend says head and shoulders or baby shampoo

ColourB4 will get it out but careful - it will get all your colour out. I am assuming you have all over colour. It will remove all pre-existing colour (or most, at least) leaving you with ginger hair (because of what is left of most hair colours except blonde after permenant colour is slightly bleached hair but not as bleached as if you bleached it therefore bright orange.

To add insult to injury, you can't even do it the night before your appointment and skulk into the hairdresser with a balaclava on and get her to sort it because you have to wait 7 days and 3 shampoos before recolouring or the old colour will reoxidise.

So under these circumstances Colourb4 might not be for you. It is an excellent product though - I highly recommend it for those wanting a complete colour change form dark or built up to light but who dont want to use bleach alone to do this.

Fairy liquid - honestly!

Teaspoon of Borax powder mixed with your shampoo will strip unwanted colour out

Head and shoulders or Fairy Liquid.

Red / burgundy dyes do wash out very quickly. Was it a semi-permanent?

I had (dyed) red hair for years and found the Schwarzkopf Live dyes that you do at home stayed in longer than any salon colour. They have a couple of purple / burgundy shades as well as reds etc. Unfortunately with really intense dye you also look run the risk of that murder victim look doing it yourself (unless perhaps you have a very steady-handed friend you could enlist?) even with tons of vaseline round the hairline etc.
