Hairstyle for fascinator

I'm going to Ascot in June and have got a "substantial fascinator" as per dress code. It's a large peacock feather contraption on a headband. (Actually quite nice, I am pretty bad at describing things.)
How should I do my hair? I have quite fine shoulder-length brown hair in a bob with some layers around the front.
should I just leave my hair down and stick the headband on or do you think they look nicer with half-up/upstyles?
I do not want to look very "done" if at all possible.

Well....I dabble in millinery, and the way us hat folk prefer them is hair-up, keeping it all simple. but ultimately if you feel more comfortable with your hair down, then go for it. I have similar hair to yours, and always wear hats/fascinators with my hair tied back in a low bun. Hope that helps!

You dabble in millinery? Interesting. Do you have a site/take commissions? I need another few bits and pieces!

Having some issues with my website at the moment, but my Facebook page is here www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Jardin-De-Fleur/188515016451?v=info. Not very up to date as have just moved house and it's all been a bit mad with orders etc...but tech wise should be back up and running v soon! Yes I do take commissions, and newer bits that I've been working on should be up on the site in the next few days!
