It's used for stopping curly hair being frizzy. Moroccan oil has argan oil in it, but you can buy just argan oil to do the same thing.

kitkatya · 10/05/2011 22:56

I will look out for it. Thanks!

I use Moroccan Oil. Makes your hair all nice and shiny and smooths down the fluffy bits. My hair is straight btw.

Put a bit through damp hair then once dried and straightened, rub a tiny bit between your hands and smooth over hair.

kitkatya · 10/05/2011 23:03

do you just buy it neat then?

I get mine from the hairdressers. It is blended with a few other ingredients so not exactly neat.

5DollarShake · 11/05/2011 01:54

I find it totally over-rated, especially for the price. Doesn't do a better or worse job than anything else on the market. In fact, my hair is fluffier than when I used my previous products.

Neat Argan oil would be your best bet if you are actually going to be in Morocco. Moroccan Oil is the brand name for a salon product that contains argan oil. I use a Matrix Oil which is pretty much argan oil mixed with olive oil and it's cheaper than moroccan oil and does the same job (I have wavy hair, prone to frizz which I used to straighten religiously but now can get away with out relying on my Ghds every day)

sowhatshallido · 11/05/2011 09:53

so is it like serum?

daimbardiva · 11/05/2011 10:45

yes, I use it the way I used to use serum and find it much more effective

chopchopbusybusy · 11/05/2011 10:51

I'm a recent convert to Moroccan oil. It makes my hair look smooth and very shiny. Yes, it's pricey but you only need a very small amount.
On the bottle I have it says it's from Israel though.

bellavita · 11/05/2011 15:15

My last bottle lasted nearly 18 months, so at £30 I would say that was well worth it.

YorkshireCrockpot · 11/05/2011 15:49

You'll be able to buy argan oil in morocco easily and it can be used as a moisturiser or as a hair treatment- run a small amount through wet hair like serum. Can be used on straight or curly hair and works well. Moisturiser my desiccated pins very beautifully!

Moroccan Oil is a product which contains some argan oil. Can only buy it from salons or eBay/ amazon. Again it can be used as a serum and works well. My dd had mega curly hair and it has worked wonders on it. I love it on my straight hair, makes it soft and glossy and I don't need to straighten it anymore to look reasonable! Expensive but worth it.

kitkatya · 11/05/2011 17:29

do I go into special shops for it or is it everywhere?

Tanso · 11/05/2011 19:06

argan oil is great for stretch marks. All the Moroccan ladies use it

skyebluepink · 11/05/2011 19:27

If you are buying Argan oil I would imagine you can get it wherever in marracesh. Markets and stuff. I haven't been to morocco so I dont know the shopping situation. Just to reiterate Moroccon Oil the brand is a combination of argan oil and silicon and perfume and preservative. Argan oil is a nut oil. It's nice though and good for hair, nails and skin.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/05/2011 23:39

My hairdresser used it on my hair last visit and I thought it was fab. Never had such shiny shiny hair. I'd recommend highly.
