I'm 42 and recently had corrective braces removed from my teeth. Now my mouth has collapsed and I haveam getting that awful cat's bum wrinkling. I have had a consultation with a respected dermatologist who says she can do restalyne filler and maybe a wee bit of botox to correct it but I don't want to appear pouty, just lose the lines/fill the gap sort of thing.
I have friends who have had work done by this Dr and the effect is subtle ie they just looked fresher and well rested but I don't know anyone in real life who has admitted to having fillers for a similar thing. Anyone here with advice? Not a smoker by the way but apperar as if I have a 40 a day habit!

Oh no. Am currently sat here with braces on my teeth (am 40)........am I going to suffer the same fate when they are removed?

Do you think it has actually collapsed or is it just that you have got used to the fuller mouth you had when the braces where on? I can see a huge difference in the fullness of my mouth since wearing them. However, I also have a "loose" mouth - the orthodontist told me he usually has real trouble getting the braces in but my lips were quite loose so it was much easier (I have been conning myself I have a Julia Roberts like mouth......I think he was just trying to tell me I have a big gob!). Perhaps you are one of the normal people whose lips fit tighter around their gums and teeth and that's what has caused the stretch?

You could try some facial exercises to tone the lips and mouth. Mama Mio do a great product called Love Your Lines which comes with a little exercise guide.

I have friends who use botox and fillers in the lips and mouth area. They look good but I do think it can be quite noticeable.
