Long-ish tops. Where from?

I need some long-ish, non clingy tops to wear over slim fitting 3/4 length trousers.

I have a generally OK figure (a tall 12-14) and good legs, but a bit of a muffin top and a c-section overhang that creates a weird little bump in fitted trousers. So, top needs to be long enough to cover that - sort of hip skimming, I suppose.

Is it too much to bloody ask? Can't find anything decent anywhere...

TIA

Wallis? Can be a bit boring though!

watching with HUGE interest. I've had a good look and can't find anything... ideally i'd like a non-clingy fabric (not t-shirty). Some options online in Dorothy Perkins but haven't investigated in RL.

Also, i'd like some kind of short sleeve...

dp tunics

ja9 · 09/05/2011 20:47

this is lovely but the swishy sleeves make it a bit too smart...

ceebeegeebies · 09/05/2011 20:48

I sound very similar to you (although I am a size 14-16 Blush) and was going to suggest DP's - they have a huge selection of tunics/dresses.

I often buy dresses and wear them like tunics - but I do have quite long legs so they would be quite indecent if I wore them as dresses.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/05/2011 20:48

white stuff?

DilysPrice · 09/05/2011 20:50

I got 3 brilliant ones from Oasis recently, for less than 20 quid each so they're well worth investigating.

ja9 · 09/05/2011 20:51

I have a top exactly as you describe which i bought in a cute little shop in Whitby a couple of summers ago. Close to you by any chance? Sadly I'm hundreds of miles away... but would love to pop in for this summer's version!

ja9 · 09/05/2011 20:54

i find white stuff's stuff not 'structured' enough for me.

Dilysprice, i had a look in Oasis and din't see anything - would you mind linking to the ones you got?

RachelHRD · 09/05/2011 21:16

Debenhams Mantaray brand has some nice tops and dresses which can be worn over 3/4 trousers.

DilysPrice · 10/05/2011 00:18

Can't do links on phone I'm afraid - the ones I got were quite ordinary looking long sleeved boat necked T's, plain and stripy, but a good length for wearing with low rise jeans and really nice drapy fabrics, and I took zillions into the changing room and forced myself to narrow it down to 3. (I was in Regent St store, my local branch isn't as good).

Do look on the website, because they've got huge numbers of tops on there.

I have same problem. After years of buying cheapo H&M t shirts I 'invested' in some American Apparel T shirts this year. Unisex Deep V T shirts. Cost £20 each. But great great great. Good quality, wash well, no 'fat back', good range of colours. Most importantly long (I'm 5'10").

tassisssss · 10/05/2011 18:03

options in wallis if that's not too mumsy for you...

tassisssss · 10/05/2011 18:06

and lovely ones in monsoon/boden if your budget stretches to that!

Maybeitsbecause · 10/05/2011 21:48

Thanks all, am going to do some online investigations into your recommendations now! Grin
